Dračí Hlídka is based on the rules of Dračí doupě version 1.6—the classic rules played from the early 90s until the arrival of Dračí doupě plus and Drd II. The authors make no secret of the fact that they originally wanted to simply reissue the original Drd, which offered a different gaming experience than its successors. However, they couldn't secure the license, so they drew inspiration from other sources—most notably the popular American RPGs Pathfinder and Dungeons & Dragons. The result is a game that stays true to the original while adding fresh elements and improvements.
