A two-player wargame that, given the designers, naturally feels a lot like War of the Ring. It’s definitely shorter, though the 60 minutes stated on the box is nowhere near accurate :) It focuses more on combat, so you’ll definitely enjoy having both. The Battle of Five Armies has the advantage of being more accessible and easier to grasp in terms of strategy. War of the Ring offers a more epic, narrative-driven experience, but you don't always have the time for it. Otherwise, it’s another beautifully crafted game that respects the source material. It’s slightly more challenging for the Shadow player, who faces an unrelenting time limit to score enough points; once the Free Peoples bring Beorn into play, the Shadow is in big trouble.

Wargame pro dva hráče, vzhledem k autorům samozřejmě dost připomíná War of the Ring, ale je určitě kratší i když 60 minut uváděných na krabici tedy ani náhodou :) A je to víc zaměřené na boj, určitě se užijí doma obě, Battle of Five Armies má i výhodu, že je přístupnější a jednodušší na pochopení jak ke hře přistupovat. War of the Ring je zas přeci jen epičtější a příběhovější zážitek na který ale ne vždy je dost času. Jinak je to opět parádně udělané s úctou k předloze. O něco složitější pro hráče Stínu, kterému běží neúprosný časový limit ve kterém musí získat dostatek bodů, jakmile dostanou Svobodné národy do hry Medděda, má Stín velký problém.
