The Black Death is coming!

In 1347, Genoese galleys arrived from Crimea and docked in the ancient port of Messina. They brought rats in their hulls. The rats were infested with fleas, and those fleas carried the bubonic plague, later known as the Black Death. Over the next four years, half the population of cities across Europe perished.

In the board game Messina 1347, you take on the role of noble family leaders with estates in the Sicilian countryside. Your goal is to rescue local citizens from the plague, place the infected in quarantine, and put the healthy to work on your lands.

As the epidemic rages with increasing fury, you will establish small, isolated communities outside the city and use fire to prevent the disease from spreading further. You also have the chance to fight back against the plague and return the rescued citizens to the city to repopulate Messina.

The player who helps Messina the most by the end of the game wins.
