How to start playing The One Ring
The One Ring is a tabletop roleplaying game set in Middle-earth. The original is published by the Swedish company Free League, and the Czech version is released by Mytago. You have two paths to start:
- Starter Set + Core Rulebook: The starter booklet guides you through your first session, while the core rulebook contains the complete rules.
- Collector's Set: An expanded package for those who want more than just the basics. You can find the exact contents on the product page.
To play, you also need a set of dice with special symbols. The game uses a twelve-sided die featuring Gandalf's rune and the Eye of Sauron, along with six-sided success dice.
Accessories for the Loremaster and the Company
- Loremaster's Screen and Rivendell Compendium: A screen with a rules summary and a description of Rivendell as a place for the company to rest.
- Moria: Through the Doors of Durin: An expansion that leads the company into the dwarven realm beneath the Misty Mountains.
- Miniatures of heroes, such as Dwarves of Durin's Folk or Rangers of the North.
- Tabletop accessories: Dice trays, dice bags, and covers featuring maps of Middle-earth.
Who is The One Ring for?
The game is perfect for Tolkien fans and groups who enjoy traveling, exploring the landscape, and gradually uncovering the shadow, rather than constant combat. The heroes return to Middle-earth after the events of The Hobbit, so you already know the world well from the books.
