Runewars is one of the best strategy games I've ever played.
It pits the Undead, Elves, Humans, and Demons against each other. Runewars is set in the world of Terrinoth, which also serves as the setting for the game Descent.

The game is for 2 to 4 players, though it's best played with 4; in a 3-player game, the classic "when two fight, the third wins" scenario often happens. At the start, players choose their race, map tiles (making every game unique), and quest cards for their heroes, then the brawl begins. The goal is to control 6 dragon runes, which appear on the map throughout the game via various events. The game is divided into rounds, with each round representing a season. Each player has 8 actions available but can only use 4 of them (one for each season).

Combat involves drawing from a deck of battle cards, where parts of the card indicate success, failure, or special unit abilities.

It's not a game for complete beginners, but it comes with tons of miniatures that might just lure them in :)

Proti sobě staví Nemrtváky, Elfy, Lidi a Démony. Runewars se odehrává ve světě Terrinoth ze kterého čerpá i hra Descent.

Hra je pro 2 až 4 hráče, kdy je ji asi nelpeší hrát, častokrát se při hře 3 hračů stává klasické "...3. se směje". Na začátku hry si hráči vyberou rasu, díly mapy ( každá hra je tím pádem jiná) karty úkolů pro hrdiny a de se mydlit. Cíl hry je ovládat uzemí 6 dračích run, tyto dračí runy se postupně objevují na herní mapě pomoců různých událostí. Hra je rozdělena na kola, jedno kolo reprezentuje jedno roční období. Hráč má 8 akcí z toho může použít poze 4 (4 roční období).

Při souboji se tahají karty z balíčku bojových karetm kdy část karty zobrazuje úspěch, neúspěch či speciální vlastnost bojových jednotek.

Hra není pro úplné začátečníky, ale obsahuje mraky miniatur, které je můžou nalákat :)

A perfect game that never gets old. Our first session lasted almost 4 hours, but it was worth every minute. Even though the rules seemed incredibly complex at first glance, the opposite turned out to be true. The game setup is absolutely brilliant. Players take turns laying out the map, so no one knows how the resources and monsters will end up at the start. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves long, strategic games.

Perfektní hra, která snad nikdy neomrzí. První hru jsme hráli skoro přes 4 hodiny, ale stálo to za to. I když po prvním přečtení pravidel se nám to zdálo strašně složité tak opak byl pravdou. Příprava hry je naprosto skvělá. Hráči se střídají v rozkládání mapy takže na začátku nikdo neví jak to tak asi dopadne se surovinami a příšerami. Opravdu Doporučuji pro ty co mají rády dlouhé a strategické hry.

An excellent strategy game that plays well even with two players. Beyond army battles, you'll also encounter heroes, their adventures, and duels. The rules might look complex at first, but after a couple of games, they become second nature and the gameplay flows smoothly.

Výborná strategie, dobře hratelná i ve dvou lidech, kromě bojů armád dojde i na hrdiny a jejich dobrodružství či vzájemné souboje. Pravidla můžou vypadat složitě, ale po nějakých dvou zahráních se dostanou do krve a pak už to celkem odsýpá.

A fantastic, complex 4-player game that blends territory conquest, resource management, army building, and influence. It also features diplomacy—allowing you to recruit allies from neutral units—and adventure through wandering heroes who complete quests to help you secure victory by collecting 6 magical dragon runes. Runewars is a brilliant, multi-hour gaming experience packed with planning and plot twists.

The rules are quite complex (36 pages), so you'll definitely need at least two games to iron out the details and edge cases. However, you'll get the hang of it quickly; by the second game, we barely ran into any issues.

The plastic miniatures for units and heroes are well-crafted, though the 3D mountains might not fit perfectly for everyone.

Be prepared: your first 4-player game, including reading the rules, will take about 6 hours :) Either way, it's worth it! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Czech rules and stickers can be downloaded here.

Skvělá komplexní hra pro 4 hráče, která spojuje prvky dobývaní území, získávání surovin, armády a vlivu, dále například diplomacii (díky, které můžete získat spojence z neutrálních jednotek)a v neposlední řadě dobrodružství ve formě putujících questy-plnících hrdinů, jež Vám usnadní výhru získáním 6 magických dračích run. Runewars = skvělý několikahodinový herní zážitek, plný plánování a zvratů.

Pravidla jsou složitější (36 stran) určitě to chce aspoň 2 hry na vychytání detailů (sporné situace), nicméně se to zažije rychle, u druhé hry už jsme se skoro na ničem nezasekli.

Plastikové modely jednotek a hrdinů jsou povedené nicméně 3D hory tak úplně nemusí sedět.

Připravte se, že první hra ve 4 hráčích s pročítáním pravidel Vám zabere tak 6h :) Každopádně to stojí za to! DOPORUČUJI. Česká pravidla a polepky se dají stáhnout zde.
