This game is a very pleasant surprise. It's not exactly a board game in the traditional sense; I'd sum it up as a "highly produced gamebook" (and I mean that in a good way). A production downside is the quality of the books, specifically the thickest one—the city book itself. It's glued, and while flipping through it, part of it actually detached from the spine.

The resolution system is simple: if you have the skill, you use it; if you don't, you can't, and you have to go to the corresponding paragraph. No dice, no luck involved. The advantage is that a gamebook designed this way can basically be played from bed. The downside is the limitations; you often know that a specific skill is required, but you either don't possess it or don't have it available.

Even though the world itself and the story are occasionally inconsistent and don't always stick to their internal logic, I have to say that almost nothing has brought me closer to the feeling of playing a TTRPG than Legacy of Dragonholt.

Táto hra je veľmi príjemným prekvapením. Nie je to úplne stolovka v pravom slova zmysle, zhrnul by som to ako "preprodukovaný gamebook" (pričom to myslím pozitívne). Negatívom produkcie je kvalita kníh, resp. konkrétne tej najhrubšej a síce samotného mesta - táto kniha je lepená a pri listovaní sa mi v podstate rozlepila časť od chrbta.

Vyhodnocovací systém je jednoduchý, máte schopnosť, použijete, nemáte, nepoužijete, musíte ísť na príslušný paragraf. Nijaké kocky, nijaká náhoda. Výhodou je, že takto koncipovaný gamebook možno hrať v podstate z postele. Nevýhodou sú limity, častokrát viete, že práve táto schopnosť je nutná, ale buď ňou nedisponujete, alebo ju nemáte.

Napriek tomu, že svet samotný a aj príbeh je občas nekonzistentný, nedrží sa vnútornej logiky, musím povedať, že asi nič mi nepriblížilo pocit TTRPG hrania ako práve Legacy of Dragonholt.

My husband bought us this game for Christmas. We played it throughout our entire vacation until New Year's and only finished one of the many possible paths. We have one game in progress with a friend and want to play another in a larger group. The game is fun, the story is engaging, and thanks to the many plot lines, it never gets boring. Just be prepared to spend hours on it and play for several days ;-)

Hru nam kupil manzel na vianoce, hrali sme ju pocas celej dovolenky az do noveho roka a presli sme len jednu z mnohych moznych ciest. Jednu hru mame rozohratu s kamaratom a jednu chceme hrat vo vacsej skupine. Hra je zabavna, pribeh putavy a vdaka mnohym dejovym liniam nikdy nenudi. Pocitajte s tym, ze pri hre stravite hodiny a budete ju hrat niekolko dni ;-)

I recommend this to anyone who enjoys Dungeons & Dragons-style games. It’s cooperative, but you can also play solo, which is a rare feature—a big plus for you. The box is packed with enough books and booklets to keep you busy for days or even weeks, especially if you decide to replay it with different characters and choices.

Odporúčam každému komu sa páčia hry na spôsob Dungeons and Dragons - čiže kooperatívne, no tu máte možnosť hrať aj sami a to ponúka málo hier, takže plus pre vás. V krabici vás prekvapí množstvo materiálu v podobe knižiek/ zošitov ktoré vám budú stačiť na niekoľko dní až týždňov, ak sa rozhodnete hru znovu prejsť s novými postavami a rozhodnutiami.
