Ticket to Ride: United Kingdom and Pennsylvania

A very interesting expansion for the base game that changes your strategy.

Velmi zajímavé rozšíření k základní hře, které mění strategii hry.

An interesting expansion that significantly alters the core mechanics of the game. A big plus is the double-sided board, where each side plays quite differently. The box also includes new card decks that supplement (or in the case of Great Britain, even replace) the decks from the base game. My only complaints are the very sparse graphic design of the Pennsylvania map and the fact that not all changes necessarily lead to more fun. However, for Ticket To Ride fans, I definitely recommend it.

Zajímavé rozšíření, které dosti zasahuje do principů samotné hry. Plusem je oboustranný plán, kdy se zároveň každý hraje dosti odlišně. V balení jsou i nové balíčky karet, které doplňují (v případě Velké Británie dokonce nahrazují) balíčky z původní hry. Vytkl bych snad jen velmi strohé grafické znázornění Pennsylvánské mapy a ne všechny změny vedou nutně k větší zábavnosti. Nicméně pro fandy Ticket To Ride rozhodně doporučuji.

For me, this is probably the most interesting expansion, adding more strategic options. The United Kingdom map (where you buy upgrades for locomotives and wagons to expand your railway) plays well even with two players, while Pennsylvania (where you now also gain shares for built tracks, which can really shake up the scoring) is better for larger groups.

Assuming you replace the trains with other figures, you basically have a standalone game, as it contains all the necessary cards to play; you only need the wagons and score markers.

Za mě asi nejzajímavětší rozšíření, které přidává více strategických možností. Mapa United Kingdom (za lokomotivy a vagonky se nakupují vylepšení, která umožnují rozšiřování vaší železnice) je dobře hratelná i ve dvou hráčích, kdežto Pensylvanie (za postavené tratě získáváte nově také akcie, které mohou dost dobře zamíchat s bodováním) je spíše pro větší počet.

Za předpokladu, že byste nahradili vláčky jinými ;figurkami, tak máte v podstatě samostatnou hru, protože obsahuje všechny potřebné karty ke hraní, chybí jen ty vagonky a žetony pro zaznamenávání bodů.

Another map expansion for one of my favorite games. While no expansion has topped the complex map of Europe yet, the big plus of the United Kingdom map—and the main reason why this expansion is worth trying—are the technology cards. They take Ticket to Ride to a whole new level of strategy.

The technology cards give the trains a fresh spark; I really enjoy the gradual unlocking of new possibilities in the game. On the other hand, Pennsylvania is a bit of a disappointment. You can score by far the most points there, but the points feel forced onto the map in an artificial way. Still, it's better than having the other side of the board empty—two maps are simply better than one.

Další mapové rozšíření k jedné z mých nejoblíbenějších her. Členitou mapu Evropy sice zatím žádné rozšíření nepřekonalo, ale velkým plusem United Kingdom mapy a největším důvodem, proč tohle rozšíření stojí za to vyzkoušet, jsou karty vylepšení, je to posun Ticket to Ride o třídu výš ve strategických hrách.

Karty vylepšení dávají vláčkům novou šťávu, postupné otevírání si nových možností se mi ve hře moc líbí. Naopak Pennsylvania je spíše zklamáním, dá se na ni nahrát zdaleka největší množství bodů, ale body jsou do mapy našroubované až takový umělým způsobem. Pořád je to však lepší, než kdyby byla druhá strana herní desky prázdná, dvě mapy jsou zkrátka víc než jedna.

The fifth map expansion for Ticket to Ride is an absolute blast. The UK map brings the biggest change to the game's rules and mechanics since 2003 (when the original USA map was released). It's challenging and sparks player conflict right from the start. Pennsylvania, on the other hand, is like an updated USA map; it's fast and currently the map with the highest scoring potential. Finishing with 250+ points in 35 minutes is no problem. Plus, the two-player game is balanced with a rule that actually works, so you don't have to worry about one player hoarding a single type of stock or the so-called "Ticket fiesta" seen on the Switzerland map (when playing with two players).

Páty mapový přídavek pro Ticket to Ride je naprostá pecka. Mapa UK přináší největší zásah do pravidel a mechanismů samotné hry od roku 2003 (vyšla původní hra s mapou USA). Je náročná a hned na počátku dochází ke konfliktům mezi hráči. Pensylvánie je naopak taková aktualizovaná mapa USA je rychlá a zatím mapa s největším bodovým potenciálem. Není problém za 35 minut skončit s 250+ body. Hra pro dva hráče je navíc ošetřená pravidlem, které funguje, takže zde nehrozí vyzobávání jednoho druhu akcií jediným hráčem, nebo tzv. "Ticket fiesta", jako na mapě Švýcarska (při hře dvou hráčů).

Ticket to Ride is my favorite board game. This is another expansion for my collection, and I'd say it's quite a good one :)

Ticket to Ride je moje nejoblíbenější deskovka. Tohle je další rozšíření do sbírky a řekla bych, že celkem povedené :)
