How to Start Painting Miniatures: Part 1 – What Do You Need to Get Started?
Have you thought about painting your own army for Warhammer, Mechs from Battletech, or perhaps dwarves from Middle-Earth SBG?
Have you thought about painting your own army for Warhammer 40,000, Mechs from Battletech, or perhaps dwarves from Middle-Earth SBG? Do you have board games with beautiful miniatures piling up at home that are just begging to be painted? It is not nearly as complicated as it might seem at first glance. Where should you start when painting miniatures? And what do you need to buy to get going?
If you pick up these gorgeous cat-nauts, for example, it would be a shame to leave them boring and grey. You have to admit that.
If you want to try out miniature painting first, we recommend starting with one of our starter paint sets. You get a wide palette of colors that allows you to work with different shades. At the same time, these sets offer great value and often include a bonus.
Of course, you shouldn't forget a brush (if it is not included in the starter set), and you will definitely find a primer and varnish useful to protect your miniatures from damage. What are these things for? You will find out in our introductory video on painting miniatures.
