Warcraft - Board Game

If you've played the Warcraft III strategy game, you'll be surprised how well the mechanics translate from a PC real-time strategy to a turn-based board game. You can play the classic strategy mode or choose from several pre-made scenarios (and it's easy to come up with your own). The game usually goes like this: gathering resources and skirmishing over mines and forests, building structures and units, launching massive attacks with spell support, and either wiping out the enemy or capturing victory points. The game's graphics are perfectly faithful to the PC original, making it a real treat for the eyes. Unfortunately, there is one major flaw. The author likely used the heroes as a marketing gimmick, locking them behind an expansion. Without it, the Warcraft game feels quite incomplete, so I'd definitely consider buying both parts at once...

Ten z Vás, kdo hrál strategii Warcraft III, bude překvapen, nakolik se dají převést herní mechanismy z pc real time strategie do deskové tahové podoby. Buď můžete hrát klasickou strategii, anebo si vybrat jeden z několika připravených scénářů (není pak složité vymyslet vlastní). Hra většinou probíhá takto: těžba surovin a drobnější šarvátky o doly a lesy, stavění budov a jednotek, masivní útoky za podpory kouzel, totální zničení nepřítele, anebo obsazení vítězných bodů. Grafika hry je zpracovaná přesně podle pc předlohy, takže radost pohledět. Bohužel je zde jeden hrubý nedostatek. Autor zřejmě jako reklamní trik dal hrdiny až do rozšíření, bez nichž je hra Warcraft hodně ochuzena, takže určitě bych popřemýšlel o koupi obou dílů naráz...
