Chronicles of Crime

A solid detective game with nice visuals. Best played solo or as a duo. You don't need more players, as there's nothing to do besides scanning QR codes. Two players can take turns perfectly fine. Then, it's just up to your brainpower to solve the case.
The scenarios are decent—nothing groundbreaking, but better than an average episode of CSI.

The universal graphics and text on the cards are a double-edged sword. Replayability is excellent, but when there's a lot on the table, it's hard to remember what each card means for the current case. The same goes for character names. You can solve this by taking handwritten notes or re-scanning the QR codes.

I have to criticize the companion app here; it works, but it lacks automatic notes. There's only a conversation history. An automatically generated itinerary with names of people and items would really help.

What bothers me most is that in some cases, there is no hard evidence to solve the mystery, and you just have to guess based on hints. It's important to realize this so you don't waste time looking for non-existent clues.

Even though this short review sounds negative, I recommend the game. It packs a lot of fun for the price.

Podarena detektivna hra s prijemnym grafickym spracovanim. Najlepsie hratelne solo, pripadne vo dvojici. Viac hracov netreba, pretoze okrem skenovania QR kodov tu nie je co ine robit. Vo dvojici sa pri tom akurat vhodne prestriedate. Potom uz treba len zapajat rozumovu cinnost na vyriesenie pripadu.
Scenare v hre su OK, nic prevratne, ale lepsie nez priemerny diel CSI.

Univerzalna grafika a text na kartach je dvojsecna zbran. Znovu-pouzitelnost vynikajuca, ale ked je toho na stole viacej, tak je problem si zapamatat co ktora karta znamena v aktualnom pripade. Podobne je to s menami osob. Riesit sa to da rucnym pisanim poznamok, alebo opakovanym skenovanim QR kodov.

Tu by som si kopol do sprievodnej aplikacie, ktora sice funguje, ale chybaju v nej automaticke poznamky. Je tu len historia konverzacii. Automaticky generovany itinerar s menami osob a predmetmy by pomohol.

Co mi vadi na hre najviac je, ze v niektorych pripadoch neexisute hard evidence na riesenie a musite len hadat podla naznakov. Toto je dolezite si uvedomit aby ste nestracali cas hladanim neexistujucich dokazov.

Napriek tomu, ze tato kratka review vyznieva negativne hru odporucam. Za ten peniaz je v nej schovanej kopa zabavy.

An engaging board game that incorporates virtual reality. If you don't mind using technology in your tabletop games, I highly recommend it.
