First time at a LARP - basic fantasy costume and gear

What would I get if I were going to a LARP for the first time?

A tunic is essential! I would invest the most in a tunic. Ideally, one with a basic cut and made of high-quality material, which is exactly what this Long-sleeved linen tunic - natural offers. This tunic will also serve as a base layer later if you decide to buy a gambeson, padded armor, or a longer wool tunic.

For trousers, whether for ladies or for men, I wouldn't invest too much at the start. The tunic partially covers them from above, and if you decide to get leg wraps, you'll hide the lower part of the legs too. Personally, I would choose the same color for the trousers as the leather belt, but that depends on your taste. :)

Shoes are a tricky topic, often one of the more expensive investments. At first, though, I wouldn't worry about it and would just use old black combat boots or any leather shoes that don't look out of place. Don't wear bright red sneakers to events! However, if you have some extra cash, I would choose simple turnshoes.

As for a weapon, I would personally make one for my first LARP or borrow one. Duct tape, a fiberglass core, and EVA foam or a sleeping mat – you can find the basic materials in the weapon and arrow making category.

If you are a combat character, you definitely need gloves. For starters, the cheapest leather gloves from our range will do.

If you want to improve a character playing a local militiaman, I would buy collodion and make a noticeable scar on my face. Am I a wizard's apprentice and don't have the money for a fancy wizard robe? I would at least get small but important accessories like parchment paper and a quill. A tavern loafer will be well served by a tankard or goblet. Often, it's the props and small details that make a good costume. For example, a tunic stained with mud and a face smudged with soot really breathe life into many characters 🙂.
