Defenders of the Realm: Hero Expansion #1 brings you four new heroes, each with their own miniature and character card. You also get six new global effects cards and five tokens to use with the base game. (This expansion includes a replacement Paladin miniature for the one in the base game.) Meet the new heroes:

• Captain of the Guard: An experienced warrior who rides a powerful battle steed. He can issue orders to grant extra actions to other players' heroes and uses his tactical prowess to outwit enemy troops during the Darkness Spreads phase.

• Assassin: She appears and vanishes at will, launching sneak attacks on minions before retreating into the shadows. Most importantly, she can land a deathblow on any General when all seems lost.

• Chaos Wizard: He wields powerful spells, but his untamed magic is a double-edged sword. It destroys invading minions, but can also wound himself, other heroes, or even the land he is sworn to protect if he loses control.

• Adventurer: Armed with a magical item from past quests, she excels at card management. Her experience allows her to complete minor quests for Hero cards whenever she ends her turn at a Treasure Chest location, and she gains advantages on major quests. Combine this with her ability to mingle with the lowlifes in Inns, and she becomes a formidable defender of the realm.
