One of my absolute favorite games. The only annoying thing is the setup—lots of different buildings and factories to prepare—but otherwise, it's a brilliant Euro (though not a classic worker placement, as you don't place any meeples). Great replayability and theme.
It doesn't really matter whether you have Birmingham or Lancashire—they are two versions of the same game (Lancashire is perhaps a bit simpler, with fewer types of factories).

Jedna z mých nejoblíbenějších her - jediné, co je na ní otravné, je setup - spousta různých domečků - továren na přípravu, ale jinak skvělé euro (nicméně to není klasický workerplacement - nedáváte žádné panáčky nikam) - skvělá znovuhratelnost a téma.
Je také vcelku jedno, jestli máte Birmingham nebo Lancashire - jsou to dvě verze jedné hry (Lancashire je snad o něco jednodušší, méně různých továren..)

Bought this game as a second copy for under the tree (the first one was the English version after a review on Deskofobie). Stunning visuals, great production quality, it plays beautifully, and the theme really shines through.

Brass: Birmingham is a brilliant strategy game for demanding players. Its complexity doesn't lie in the rules (which span only 11 richly illustrated pages), but rather in the sheer number of options you have. Your first game will make your head spin, and you won't know where to start. As you progress, you'll master the game and explore many different paths to victory. Brass features plenty of player interaction, so you won't feel like you're sitting alone at the table. The production quality is also top-notch, with beautiful graphics and high-quality components. My only gripe is the box; while it's perfectly sized so you don't feel like you're buying air, it lacks an insert. This leads to another downside: setup can take a while because you have to sort all the industry tiles. Otherwise, Brass is absolutely fantastic and will put your industrial management skills to the ultimate test.

Brass: Birmigham je skvělá strategie pro náročné hráče. Její komplexnost není ani tak v pravidlech (přece jenom mají pouze 11 bohatě ilustrovaných stránek), ale spíše v počtu vašich možností. První hru vám z toho půjde hlava kolem a nebudete vědět čím začít. Postupem ale do hry proniknete a budete prozkoumávat mnoho různých cest k vítězství. Brass obsahuje spoustu interakce mezi hráči, takže vám nebude připadat, že u stolu sedíte sami. Zpracování je taky na skvělé úrovni, hra má krásnou grafiku a kvalitní komponenty. Výtku mám ke krabici, která, i přestože je tak akorát velká, takže nemáte pocit, že si kupujete vzduch, neobsahuje žádný insert. S tím se pojí další negativum a to, že příprava hry se může protáhnout, protože musíte roztřídit všechny destičky průmyslu. Jinak je však Brass naprosto skvělý a výborně ozkouší vaši schopnost vést průmysl.

It arrived today. Just like every package from Imago, it was in perfect condition and without any issues. We sat down to play Brass immediately. It's an absolute blast. Highly recommended.

The perfect game about the Industrial Revolution in England. Once you finish a game, you'll want to play again. Compared to its predecessor, Lancashire, Birmingham offers more options and is generally better suited for inconsistent gaming groups. Highly recommended.

Perfektní hra o průmyslové revoluci v Anglii. Dohrajete hru a chcete hrát dál. V porovnání s jeho předchůdcem - Lancashire - Birmingham nabízí více možností a je obecně vhodnější pro nestálé herní skupiny. Vřele doporučuji.

A magnificent game where you build your own industrial and commercial empire during the Industrial Revolution in England. Throughout the game, you will construct buildings for various industries, establish trade routes, and conduct business deals with merchants, which you'll celebrate with a pint of beer.
The game offers a vast array of decisions, and you'll want to play it again immediately after finishing. The only downside is that the game is demanding to set up; a suitable insert is a must to make preparation much easier.

Nádherná hra, které budujete svoje obchodne prumyslove imperium za doby prumyslove revoluce v Anglii. Behem hry bude stavet budovy jednotlivych prumyslu, vytvaret obchodni spojeni, vytvaret obchodni transakce s obchodniky, ktere oslavite pitim piva na oslavu transakce.
Ve hre je velmi mnoho moznych rohodnuti a po dohrani si budete chtit dat dalsi partii znovu. Jedine minus je ze hra je narocna na pripravu, nutnosti je mit vhodny insert, ktery velmi usnadni praci s pripavou.

Na první pohled vás upoutá skvělé grafické zpracování. Na druhý skvělé mechaniky a hratelnost. Co do ekonomický her jedna z nejlepších co jsem kdy hrál.
Pravidla jsou velmi dobře napsaná a překvapivě jednoduchá. Doporučuji všemi deseti!

There's not much need to speculate about the game's quality itself. However, in my opinion, the game has two flaws that lead to a lower rating.
I say two, but it's actually one. The game doesn't include any insert at all, which is a huge minus for a game that's so demanding to set up. I definitely wouldn't buy it without an insert, and I would have loved to see one included in the base game.
So, the two flaws are: 1) the game has no insert at all, and 2) it's extremely demanding to set up (even more so because it lacks an insert).

O samotných kvalitách hry asi není potřeba úplně moc spekulovat. Nicméně hra má podle mě dvě mušky, kvůli kterým dávám nižší hodnocení.
Píši sice dvě, ale vlastně je to jedna. Hra totiž neobsahuje vůbec žádný insert, a to je u takto náročné hry na její přípravu opravdu velký mínus. Určitě bych to bez insertu nekupoval, přičemž osobně bych ho velmi rád uvítal již v základu.
Ty dvě mouchy tedy jsou: 1) hra nemá vůbec žádný insert a 2) je strašně moc náročná na přípravu (o to víc, když nemá žádný insert).

One of the best strategy games, not just according to the BGG rankings, rightfully deserves its spot. The components are functional, though you'll need to sort the tokens a bit to set up the game, so I'd recommend an insert.
The deluxe version supposedly includes poker chips, but the cardboard coins are perfectly fine. The localized Czech box is just a sticker job and includes rules + reference cards that aren't quite like the originals (they have sharp corners), but they serve their purpose.
It's also great that the box, while lower than usual, doesn't sell you empty space—it's packed with tokens, cards, and other cardboard.
If you can't find the Czech version, buy the English one or any other language—the game is completely language-independent, except for the rules.

Jedna z nejlepších strategických her nejen podle BGG žebříčku si právem zaslouží svoje umístění. Komponenty jsou funkční, jenom pro přípravu hry je třeba trošku toho třídění žetonů, proto bych doporučil insert.
Delux varianta obsahuje údajně žetony z pokeru, ale mince z kartonu úplně stačí. Počeštená krabice je pouze přelepka a čeká pravidla + přehledové karty, které úplně nejsou jako ty původní (mají ostré rohy) ale poslouží svému účelu.
POtěší také, že krabice byť je nižší než bývá zvykem, neprodává zbytečný čínský vzduch a kupo žetonů, karet a dalšího kartonu.
Pokud neseženete CZ verzi, kupte EN nebo jakýkoli jiný jazyk - hra je krom pravidel kompletně nezávislá.
