What do your dice say about you?

Times have changed, new possibilities have opened up for players, and instead of dice, you can now use cards, dominoes, a Jenga tower, or try a system that is completely free of chance for your role-playing games. Even so, sets of RPG dice are an inseparable part of the hobby, and few things can replace the satisfying sound of them rattling in a cup or rolling across the table (and under it, if you still don't have a dice tray).

Every player has at least one set of polyhedral dice at home. Maybe two, or even ten. Are you curious about what your favorite set of dice reveals about you? Read our article – but be careful, you might find some harsh revelations in the following lines that you aren't prepared for.

Classic colored dice

These are quite possibly your first dice – you didn't want to spend too much money because you didn't know how long you'd be playing this strange game, and they just stuck with you. The second possibility is that you have your characters color-coordinated and each one has its own dice in its favorite colors.

“Yes, I'm looking at you, fuchsia bard.”

Glitter dice

You like a bit of sparkle in your life and maybe a little risk – the same goes for your characters. Rolling dice would be boring if they didn't at least shine or glitter a little. It's even better if they glow in the dark.

“I didn't ask where the others are standing. I said I'm casting Fireball.”

Mixed dice

You've likely been playing role-playing games for a while. Probably long enough to have lost a bunch of dice, and you have fond memories of the ones that remain. Or maybe you just love CHAOS.

“Something smells like an eternal Dungeon Master here.”

Elven dice

You aren't nearly as mysterious as you think. You probably just like elves, or you simply enjoy the look of elven script. Don't let others hold you back, though – for a truly perfect experience, we recommend playing elves in full costume with a green cloak.

“And yes, the same applies to dwarven dice.”

Skull dice

You chose these dice because they are the best choice for all gravediggers, executioners, cultists, and necromancer players. Or they are a small consolation prize for you because you're currently playing in a system that doesn't have a necromancer, and you have to survive until your party decides to play an adult RPG system.

“No, reanimating the undead doesn't count as a full-fledged necromancer!”

Giant d20

You don't care what's on the table. You don't even care what your teammates have on the table. Other dice, miniatures, glasses – nothing must stand in the way of your important roll. A giant die is a guarantee that you'll always get everyone's attention. And you deserve it!

“Hulk, SMASH!”

Fate dice

If you own a pile of these, most people think you play FATE. The truth is likely that you just wish you played FATE, or you'd like to play it much more often. Or you use them as +/+ or -/- counters in Magic.

“Good luck, everyone is rooting for you.”

Metal dice

You bought them because they look great, no one else has them, and you couldn't help yourself. Then you found out that everyone already has metal dice and you also have to get a dice tray for them. Which you will now carry with you everywhere. EVERYWHERE.

“It's still worth it, though.”
