Vampire: Step-by-Step to an Immortal Look

Do you want to look like a freshly awakened descendant of Dracula for Halloween or your next cosplay? Or maybe a tired, decadent version of an immortal who hasn't slept in a few centuries? Either way, I have a simple guide for you on how to transform into an elegant, slightly terrifying vampire in just twenty minutes.

Vampire makeup, lenses, and blood

1. Start with the eyes… literally

If contact lenses don't bother you, put them in right at the start. White, red, or amber lenses work wonders—in one second, they turn you into a creature that happily avoids churches and garlic.

Vampires are usually pale, so grab some white face paint, mix it with a little water, and apply it evenly. A sponge, brush, or your fingers will help—whatever works for you. Don't forget to set the paint with a setting spray or setting powder so your face doesn't melt before you even get to your first drink.

Now you have a beautifully anemic vibe. Congratulations, the first step toward immortality is behind you.

2. The magic of colors

Eyeshadows are your main weapon now. Reach for shades of orange, red, and crimson. Use the first layer as a base, then gradually layer and blend—the smoother the transition, the better.

If you want a bit of fantasy, add some glitter—yes, I know, Twilight vibes, but it works. In daylight or on stage, it gives you a 3D effect and makes your eyes look deeper.

Darker shadows around the lids guarantee a dramatic look. If you want to appear elegant, extend the shadows into a cat-eye shape. If you're aiming more for the “tired immortal” look, keep the eye shape natural. Blend until you're satisfied. Don't be afraid to extend the colors up to your hairline or even under your eyes. Combined with pale skin, this creates a beautifully unnatural impression.

Want to add details? Try a few fine veins. All you need is a thin brush and some red paint. It creates the impression of irritation or a hungry trance.

3. Bloody details and final touches

A vampire without a bite? No way. Make a small reminder of where someone “turned” you—fake blood, a scratch on the neck, or a mark on your collarbone. Theatrical blood holds up great and has a realistic color, so you won't have to explain after the party that your lipstick just smeared.

You can highlight your eyebrows for dramatic contrast, or hide them a bit if you want to look more corpse-like. Add eyeliner, a layer of mascara, and then lips—red, crimson, or completely black. Everything works.

When you're done, put on a dark outfit and add fangs (because yes, we all know it's not a vampire look without them). You can either buy fangs and attach them with denture adhesive or mold your own using thermoplastic beads.
