The Mountain from Game of Thrones joins Legacy of Valor

The Czech medieval RPG Legacy of Valor is getting a boost from a Game of Thrones giant. Hafthór Júlíus Björnsson, known as Ser Gregor Clegane, nicknamed The Mountain, has joined the game. Developers will reveal his role on October 23rd at the Poznań Game Arena 2026 trade fair, where you can also play two new demos for the first time.

Hafthór Björnsson: The Mountain, strongman, and gamer

Icelandic native Hafthór Björnsson played The Mountain in the Game of Thrones series from season four until the end. Viewers remember him mainly for his duel with Oberyn Martell. Outside the series, he is one of the strongest men on the planet. In 2018, he won the World's Strongest Man competition, and according to the studio's press release, he also plays Counter-Strike 2 and chess.

What is Legacy of Valor

Legacy of Valor is an action-strategy RPG from the independent Black Banner Studios based in České Budějovice. It takes place in a world inspired by 14th-century Europe. You start in a dilapidated ancestral estate and gradually build it into a castle, turn a village into a city, and eventually forge an entire kingdom. The developers call this "Ruin to Realm."

The game combines three genres that Czech players love:

• Third-person RPG with directional combat, blocks, and executions, inspired by historical fencing.
• Building and economy: workshops, farms, smithies, barracks, trade caravans, and fortifications.
• Large-scale real-time battles where you command thousands of soldiers at once.

It adds a story campaign about legacy and power, moral choices with consequences, a day-night cycle, and dynamic weather. A sandbox mode with no limits, cooperative and competitive multiplayer, and mod support are also in the works. The dialogue is fully voiced in English and Czech.

Legacy of Valor was born in the fall of 2025 through a successful Kickstarter campaign. Since then, the team has reworked the combat and animations, enabled multiplayer, and developed technology for battles with thousands of soldiers. A release date and platforms have not been announced yet, but you can already add the game to your Steam wishlist.

What awaits visitors at Poznań Game Arena 2026

The Poznań Game Arena fair will take place from October 23rd to 25th, 2026, at the Poznań exhibition grounds. Black Banner Studios is preparing:

• Two playable demos: an improved RPG section and a brand-new demo of a large-scale battle with thousands of soldiers fighting in real-time.
• 16 gaming stations where you can try the game for yourself.
• A medieval camp with live combat demonstrations, historical armor, and explanations of medieval weapons.
• Meet The Mountain: Björnsson will be available at the booth for photos and autographs.
• A presentation on the main stage on Friday, October 23rd, where the studio will reveal his role in the game.
