Asgard's Chosen is inspired by Norse mythology. Build your army, win the favor of as many gods as possible, and conquer your opponents' territories. The cards feature various gods, monsters, items acquired in cities, magical artifacts, and events. The game board consists of many types of terrain tiles (mountains, forests, hills, thickets, swamps, and lakes) that you arrange at the start of each game. Place city tiles into the open square spaces on the map (you cannot place them in enchanted lands).

In addition to the 2–4 player version, the rules include a solo mode and a 2-player cooperative mode.
