Dive back into the New England of H. P. Lovecraft's visions and explore the dream-haunted, misty streets of Kingsport, where reality fades and the barriers between dimensions grow thin. Kingsport is home to powerful Guardians, so investigators might find someone – or something – willing to help them in their fight against a monstrous Ancient One.
This fourth expansion for the popular horror game Arkham Horror brings a new game board, new investigators and Ancient Ones, a wealth of cards, and intriguing new rules. You can step into the shoes of eight new investigators with powerful, unique abilities, use new items and allies, and battle an unknown Ancient One with unusual powers.
The game board depicts locations in Kingsport and its surrounding areas, some of which are difficult to reach. If investigators manage to get there, they can gain a significant advantage (similar to the Deputy cards in the base game). Kingsport is unique in that dimensional gates cannot open there. However, the thin barrier between dimensions in its vicinity can cause dimensional rifts to form, spreading across Arkham, unleashing monsters into the streets, and potentially accelerating the awakening of the Ancient One. The game board also includes two new Other Worlds for investigators to explore.
A new element of the game is the Guardians, who can assist investigators in their quest. The expansion also features two new Heralds, complementing the King in Yellow from the small expansion of the same name.
You will find over three hundred cards that expand and complement the base game. In addition to new spells, items, skills, gates, and mythos cards, the set includes special benefit cards provided by certain Guardians or bonus cards for reaching specific locations on the board. Naturally, there are also Arkham location cards that expand and enrich encounters in Arkham, along with 56 Kingsport location cards. To increase the difficulty, you can use the epic battle card variant, which changes and spices up the final showdown with the Ancient One. New, powerful monsters that investigators must face are also included.
The base game Arkham Horror is required to play this expansion. The game is in English; a Czech translation is available.

Kingsport Horror brings more cards of the familiar type, such as Mythos cards, Other World encounter cards, spells, items, and more, along with new, interesting investigators and Ancient Ones. It adds an expansion board, which I find a bit less exciting compared to other large expansions; it’s usually quite quiet there, and you only need an investigator to spend time there to prevent rifts from opening due to the new mechanic. Another addition is the Guardians, who can make the game a bit easier for you.
Probably the best new feature is the Epic Battle cards, which spice up the final showdown with the Ancient One and add some real flavor. There are also new types of monsters: aquatic and elusive—monsters that try to avoid the investigators. Even though it’s arguably the weakest of the large expansions, if you’re a big Arkham fan, it’s still worth getting just for the increased variability, because in Arkham, more variety is always a plus :)
Kingsport Horror přináší více kartiček už známého druhu jako jsou karty mýtu, střetnutí ve Vnějších světech, předmětů kouzel atd. a také nové zajímavé vyšetřovatele a Prastaré. Přidává rozšiřující desku, která mi ale proti jiným velkým rozšířením přijde trošku méně zajímavá, většinou na ni je celkem klid, a jen kvůli nové mechanice - trhlinám je potřeba aby na ni strávil nějaký čas jeden vyšetřovatel a bránil jejich otevření. Další novinkou jsou Guardians - Strážci, kteří vám mohou hru trošku ulehčit.
Asi nejlepší novinkou jsou karty epického souboje, které zpestřují závěrečný boj s Prastarým a dodávají mu šťávu. Také se zde objevují nové typy nestvůr, vodní a elusive tj. nestvůry které se vyšetřovatelům snaží vyhnout. I když je z velkých rozšíření asi nejslabší, tak pokud jste velký fanoušek Arkhamu, stejně stojí za pořízení, už jen kvůli zvýšení variability hry, protože u Arkhamu je větší pestrost vždy plus :)
