There are almost as many components as in Caverna, but Viticulture definitely has the edge when it comes to gameplay. The visitor cards play a bigger role than I expected, the winemaking theme feels a bit forced at times, and the rules can be a little tricky during your first game. On the other hand, you get a thematic game that flows well, features polished mechanics, has very readable rules, doesn't take up too much table space, and works great as a solitaire experience. And those glass beads!

Materiálu pomalu jako v Caverně, ale herně má Viticulture určitě navrch. Karty návštěvníků mají větší roli než jsem čekal, tématicky výroba vína trošinku drhne a pravidla během první hry malinko potrápí. Na druhou stranu dostanete tématickou hru která odsýpá, má odladěnou hratelnost, pravidla se velmi dobře čtou, nezabere až tolik místa na stole a dá se hrát i jako solitér. A ty skleněné polokoule!

A game about making and selling wine. For me, it's pure worker placement with ruthless action-blocking on the board. The visitor cards are a total lottery, offering huge variability in effects and actions that sometimes help a lot, and other times not at all. I definitely recommend the expansion. It takes the whole game to the next level.

Hra o výrobě a prodeji vína. Za mě čistý worker placement s nekompromisním vyžíráním akcí na herním plánku. Velká loterie jsou potom ve hře karty návštěvníků, kteří nabízejí obrovskou variabilitu různých efektů a akcí, které někdy pomůžou hodně, a někdy pro změnu vůbec. Určitě doporučuji rozšíření. Celou hru vytáhne o úroveň výše.

The downside is the unbalanced visitor cards, but the Visit from the Rhine Valley expansion fixes that. If the base game hooks you, the Tuscany expansion is definitely worth checking out—it makes the game even better.
