In The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey deck-building game, you take on the roles of heroes from The Hobbit (such as Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf the Grey, Thorin Oakenshield, and others) and embark on a perilous journey to the Lonely Mountain together. At the start of the game, each player begins with a deck of 10 cards, which you gradually improve. There are five types of cards available: enemies, allies, artifacts, maneuvers, and locations.

Once you gather enough strength, you can challenge the arch-enemy. Defeating them allows you to acquire cards like Sting, Orcrist, or Glamdring. The player who collects the most victory points through their deck wins the game.
