Edge of the Empire is another great product from Fantasy Flight Games. For me personally, it brings the Star Wars (SW) universe to life and returns to its roots. It uses a skill-based system that isn't overly complicated; it gives players and the GM more options rather than hindering them with complex rules and golden rules.
In Edge of the Empire, you can play what I personally enjoy most in the SW universe: the fringers, the scum on the edge of society. Smugglers, mercenaries, explorers, and so on. SW isn't just about the Force; it's about the color and diversity of this universe. Anyone who preferred Han Solo and Chewbacca over Jedi Knights will feel right at home with this system. That doesn't mean you can't play a Force-sensitive character, though. The rulebook includes the option to play a Force Sensitive Exile, and Fantasy Flight Games is preparing a standalone book dedicated to the Force. The next book in this universe will be Age of Rebellion, which I'm personally looking forward to. It's currently entering beta testing.
The Edge of the Empire book features beautiful graphic design and provides enough information even for players new to the SW universe. The system uses a special dice mechanic where the GM can easily modify difficulty using Boost Dice or Setback Dice.
My only complaint about the system is the availability and price of the special Edge of the Empire dice. However, if you own an Android or Apple tablet or phone, you can get a much cheaper dice app. If you can't or don't want to invest in the dice, you can find free fan-made programs online.
If you're tired of playing fantasy RPGs or are just looking for something new, Star Wars: Edge of the Empire is one of the best choices you can make. Long hours of fun await you in one of the most amazing worlds ever created.

Hra Edge of the Empire je další produktem od Fantasy Flight Games. Pro mě osobně znamená oživení světa Star Wars(dále jen SW) a návrat ke kořenům. Jedná se o Skill-Based System, který není nikterak složitý a dává hráčům a vypravěčí spíše možností, nežli by mu házel klacky pod nohy složitými pravidly a golden ruly.
V Edge of the Empires si můžete zahrát to, co mě osobně v universu SW baví nejvíce a to sice fringers, spodinu na okraji společnosti. Pašeráky, žoldáky, průzkumníky atd... SW nejsou jen o Síle, ale o malebnosti a rozmanitosti tohoto vesmíru. Každý, kdo měl raději Hanse Sola a Chewbaccu, než rytíře Jedi, bude v tomto systému doma. To ovšem neznamenaná, že si nemůže zahrát postavu, která ovládá Sílu. V pravidle najdete možnost hrát Force Sensitive Exile. Fantasy FLight Games připravují samostatnou knihu věnovanou Síle. Další knihou do tohoto vesmíru bude Age of Rebellion, na kterou se já osobně hodně těším. V současné době vstupuje do betatestu.
Kniha Edge of the Empire je velmi pěkně graficky zpracována a poskytuje dostatek informací i pro začínající hráče ve vesmíru SW. Systém používá mechaniku speciálních kostek, kde DM může jednoduše modifikovat obtížnost pomocí Boost Die (podpůrná kostka), nebo Setback Die (zvyšuje šanci nezdaru).
Jedinou výtkou k systému je dostupnost a cena speciálních kostek k Edge of the Empire. Pokud ovšem vlastníte tablet, nebo telefon se systémem Android, popřípadě Apple můžete si sehnat podstatně levnější aplikaci s kostkami. Pokud nemůžete, nebo nechcete investovat do kostek, dají se na internetu najít fanmade programy zadarmo.
Pokud jste unaveni hraním fantasy RPG, nebo jen hledáte něco nového, Star Wars Edge of The Empire jsou jednou z nejlepších možností, které můžete zvolit. Čekají vás dlouhé hodiny zábavy v jednom z nejúžasnějších světů, které kdy vznikly.

Star Wars and Fantasy Flight Games, a perfect match. I had never played a tabletop RPG before buying this book, but since I love SW, I wanted to give it a try. The quality and production of the book itself are absolutely amazing; FFG creates some of the best artwork for tabletop games, so the Star Wars theme shines through on every page.

The game is very well designed, and the mechanics are simple to understand and explain. The only downside is that you have to buy a few sets of dice to play, but that's not a huge financial burden.

We are already playing our second campaign, and I've easily played it with people who had never even encountered a tabletop RPG before. I definitely recommend at least giving it a try if you like SW or original RPGs. Playable with both family and friends.

Star Wars a Fantasy Flight Games, ideální spojení. Před koupí této knihy jsem nikdy stolní RPG nehrál, ale protože mám rád SW, tak jsem to chtěl aspoň vyzkoušet. Kvalita a zpracování samotné knihy je naprosto úžasné, FFG dělají jednu z nejhezčích grafik pro stolní hry, takže téma Star Wars na vás srší z každé stránky.

Hra je velmi dobře vymyšlená a mechaniky jsou jednoduché na pochopení a vysvětlení. Jediná nevýhoda je, že si musíte ke hře koupit pár sad kostiček, ale to není zas tak velká finanční zátěž.

Už máme rozehranou druhou kampaň a v pohodě jsem to hrál s lidma, kteřá nikdy o stolní RPG ani nezakopli. Rozhodně doporučuju minimálně zkusit, pokud máte rádi SW nebo originální RPG. Hratelné s rodinou, tak i s přáteli.
