Spartacus: A Game of Blood & Treachery is a thrilling game of ruthless backstabbing and bloody gladiator combat, inspired by the hit STARZ television series. In this game, you become a Dominus – the head of a house in the Roman city of Capua. Each house strives to gain the favor of Rome through intrigue and gladiator matches. As Dominus, you must manage your resources: guards protect you from enemy schemes, slaves run your household and earn you gold, and gladiators win you glory and fame in the sands of the arena.
Spartacus: A Game of Blood & Treachery consists of three phases. First is the Intrigue phase, where you weave plots against your rivals. In the second, Market phase, you buy, sell, and trade guards, slaves, and gladiators, as well as bid on new equipment. The final phase features the gladiator matches themselves. These take place as combat with gladiator miniatures on a hex-based arena board.
The goal of Spartacus: A Game of Blood & Treachery is to gain the most influence and wealth for your house. Throughout the game, players will bribe, poison, steal, blackmail, and undermine the authority of other houses. Will you play as an honorable Roman citizen whose word is law, or as a treacherous opportunist who follows the path of least resistance?

A fantastic board game with great strategic and thematic design. However, it’s mostly about negotiation, forming fragile alliances, and betraying your friends. That’s why it’s crucial who you play with. If you find players who enjoy these mechanics, you’re in for an amazing experience. In my opinion, the game shines best with four players, and a typical session lasts about 2-3 hours.
Skvělá desková hra, která je velmi dobře strategicky i tématicky designovaná, však z větší části je tato hra hlavně o vyjednávání, uzavírání křehkých spojenectví a zrazování svých přátel. Proto, je také velmi důležité s kým hru hrajete. Pokud se vám povede najít spoluhráče, kteří nemají s těmito herními principy problém, hra je skvělým zážitkem. Za mě, je hra nejlepší ve čtyřech hráčích, herní doba se pohybuje reálně někde kolem 2-3 hodin.
One of my absolute favorite games. It features a heavy dose of communication, plenty of strategic options, and a system where players sometimes have to help each other only to betray one another later. With its auction system, the game has everything needed for a true intrigue-filled blast that takes about 2 hours (with 4 players).
Jedna z mých nejoblíbenějších her. Velká dávka komunikace, ale také spousta strategických možností společně se systémem v kterém si hráči občas musejí pomoct aby se následn zradily. S aukčním systémem má hra vše, co potřebuje pro pravý intrikační nářez, který zabere kolem 2 hodin (ve 4 hráčích).
A high-quality game that guarantees hundreds of hours of fun. Thanks to an extensive deck of cards, the random selection of the Gladiator School, and an implemented system of intrigue and cooperation, the game never gets repetitive. Sophisticated rules and relative freedom significantly reduce luck and place a much greater emphasis on tactical play. Its main feature is the long playtime—a pro for some, a con for others. I am currently working on a detailed translation of the rulebook (including graphics). I have 17 out of 19 pages done. I'm happy to provide the manual upon request via email (saphire.18@tiscali.cz)—free of charge, of course ;)
Jedna z kvalitních her na dlouhé stovky hodin zábavy. Díky rozsáhlému repertoáru kartiček, náhodného výběru Gladiátorské školy, implementovaný systém intrik a spolupráce zaručuje že hra pro nikoho dlouho nebude stereotypní. Díky propracovaným pravidlům a relativní volnosti je dramaticky redukována náhoda a naopak rapidně roste vliv taktizování. Hlavním rysem je dlouhá herní doba - pro někoho plus, pro někoho mínus. Navíc pracuji na překladu herních pravidel (velice podrobně- tzn. i vč. grafiky). Momentálně mám přeloženo 17/19 stránek. Návod rád poskytnu na zažádání přes můj mail (saphire.18@tiscali.cz) - samozřejmě bezplatně ;)
