Description

Puerh Simao - Ripe Special is a basic leaf grade of post-fermented tea from the Simao region, famous not only for its very specific, "musty" earthy taste but also for its excellent health benefits.

The tea is made from the traditional large-leaf Da Ye Zhong cultivar, grown at an altitude of 1300-1500m above sea level. It produces an infusion with a sweet, typically earthy flavor. The mechanically harvested tip with two leaves is tightly twisted, medium-length, whole, and coarsely sorted.

This is a good tea. Both the taste and aroma are very woody and earthy, not as strong or sweet as you'd expect from high-quality pressed teas, but that's not a bad thing—it's just a different take. It stays good even after many infusions.

The tea has a beautiful reddish-brown color. However, the taste feels a bit rough and earthy to me. I've definitely had tastier teas, but they didn't boast about their health benefits in the description.
