Pandemic: Fall of Rome

I didn't really enjoy the classic Pandemic. When I played it shortly after its release, it felt pretty simple and dull after a while—just running around the map collecting cubes.

That’s why I was so surprised that Pandemic: Fall of Rome really grabbed me. It’s definitely because I’m into history, and the game board is just awesome. Plus, there’s a die involved, which adds a random element when you’re fighting off barbarians, mirroring the historical reality of Rome’s collapse.

Last but not least, I like the different way figures spawn and the interesting event cards.

This review is definitely biased, but I think if someone doesn't enjoy the classic Pandemic, they might still find something to love in another edition like this one.

Klasický Pandemic mě moc nebavil - když jsem ho hrál chvíli po jeho vypuštění do světa, tak mi hra po chvíli přišla celkem jednoduchá a nezáživná - prostě pobíhání po mapě a sbírání kostiček..

Strašně mě proto překvapilo, že mě velmi zaujal a chytl Pandemic edice ŘÍM. Určitě je to proto, že mám blízko k historii a herní plán je prostě bomba. Pak také to, že ve hře je kostka a tudíž i nějaký random element při tom, když kosíte barbary, kteří napodobují historickou skutečnost při pádu Říma. V neposlední řadě se mi líbí jiný styl spawnován figurek + zajímavé karty událostí.

Toto hodnocení je určitě zaujaté, nicméně si myslím, že pokud někoho nebaví klasický Pandemic, může najít zálibu i v jiné edici, jako je např. tato.

I didn't believe how well the theme could be adapted for Pandemic, but once you dive into Rome, you'll forget it was originally about diseases. It's true that the mechanics are similar, but building fortifications and sending legions across the empire works brilliantly.

Neveril jsem, jak tematicky muze byt Pandemic prenesen, ale jakmile se ponorite do Rima, zapomenete, ze byl Pandemic puvodne o nemocech. Je pravda, ze mechanismy jsou podobne, ale stavba opevneni a posilani legii po risi funguji skvele.
