I wrote my review of the game itself for the core set.

Lore: 70% You chase the villain from the previous installment into the Drúadan Forest, where the heroes are attacked by the forest's native inhabitants. The story is very simple, but getting to know the Drúedain is nice.

Player cards: 50% The player cards focus on supporting mono-sphere decks, which isn't a very constructive principle. Even the hero Mirlonde isn't exceptionally good.

Scenario: 60% The point of the scenario is very simple; don't expect any big surprises. The difficulty is average for the time the expansion was released, though some cards can be tricky.

Verdict: 60% Rather disappointing. The expansion doesn't bring any truly new concepts for either the scenario itself or for deck-building. It won't offend, but it won't thrill you either.

Hodnocení samotné hry jsem napsal k základnímu setu.

Lore: 70% Pronásledujete padoucha z minulého dílu do lesa Druadánů, kde jsou hrdinové napadeni původními obyvateli lesa. Příběh je velmi prostý, seznámení se s Drúadány je nicméně fajn.

Player cards: 50% Hráčské party jsou zaměřeny na podporu jednobarevných balíků, což příliš konstruktivní princip není. Ani hrdinka Mirlonde není nijak výjimečně dobrá.

Scenario: 60% Pointa scénáře je velmi prostá, žádné velké překvapení nečekejte. Obtížnost je průměrná na dobu kdy rozšíření vyšlo, některé z karet umí potrápit.

Závěr: 60% Spíše zklamání. Rozšíření nepřináší žádnou vyloženě novou koncepci jak pro samotný scénář tak pro herní balíky. Neurazí ale vyloženě ani ničím nenadchne.

This game is an expansion for The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game by Fantasy Flight Games. It is part of the Against the Shadow cycle and requires the Heirs of Númenor expansion to play. It is an LCG (Living Card Game), meaning new expansions with player and enemy cards are released regularly. Building your own deck is at least half the fun. Plus, it is a cooperative game where 2-4 players fight against Sauron's forces, represented by his own deck of cards. Don't be fooled, though—that doesn't make the game any easier or less fun. On the contrary, I've grown very fond of the cooperative concept; there is no better feeling than crushing a band of Orcs, killing a Nazgûl, and rescuing Faramir from his captors together with your partner or friends.

The entire Against the Shadow cycle focuses mainly on Gondor (including the Outlands—people living in the outer regions of Gondor), but it also adds many cards for Rohan and other Traits. Together with Heirs of Númenor, it turns Gondor into a very playable and complex Trait. Another option is the Outlands, which this cycle introduced as a standalone and highly playable Trait. I find them quite overpowered and strong, but on the other hand, you just need to buy this cycle to have a complete and solid trait to try out.

Against the Shadow introduces a new and very welcome element to the game. Each scenario begins with a narrative paragraph, and if you manage to beat the scenario, another part of the story awaits you. All the scenarios form one cohesive tale with a major plot twist at the end, and we always look forward to reading the next part after a victory. It is another factor that draws you even deeper into Tolkien's world and gives the game a new dimension.

The Drúadan Forest takes you into the woods known to those who have read The Lord of the Rings. It is the place where Ghân-buri-Ghân helps Théoden and his riders bypass the Orcs to reach Minas Tirith faster. However, the forest is full of traps and, most importantly, its inhabitants—the Drúedain, who consider it their own and tolerate no intruders. Watch out for them. Otherwise, they will shower you with arrows, and you will never find your way out of the forest, as their skill in moving through the woods is unmatched.

Tato hra je rozšíření ke hře od Fantasy Flight Games jménem: The Lord of the Rings - Card Game. Patří do cyklu Against the Shadow a k jejímu hraní je třeba i rošíření Heirs of Númenor. Je to LCG (living card game, živá hra, ke které průběžně vycházejí nové rozšíření obsahující hrací kartičky i kartičky zastupující nepřátele). Hrací deck si tedy můžete sestavit každý svůj a v tom tkví minimálně polovina zábavy této hry. Navíc je to hra kooperativní, kde bojují 2-4 hráči proti Sauronovým silám, zastoupeným balíčkem jeho karet. Ale nenechte se zmást, hra tím není nijak lehčí, či nezábavná. Naopak mně kooperativní koncept hry velmi přirostl k srdci a není lepšího pocitu, než když společně se svou drahou nebo kamarády rozmetáte bandu Orků, zabijete Nazgula a nakonec ještě vysvobodíte ze spáru únosců Faramira.

Celý cyklus Against the Shadow se zaměřuje hůavně na Gondor (včetně Outlands - lidé žijící v okrajových částech Gondoru), přidává ale i mnohé kartičky pro Rohan a další Traits. Spolu s Heirs of Númenor pak dělá z Gondoru velmi hratelnou a komplexní Trait. Další možností jsou Outlands, které tento cyklus stvořil jako samostatnou a velmi hratelnou Trait. Mně řijdou velmi předimenzovaní a silní, ale na druhou stranu stačí koupit tento cyklus a máte k vyzkoušení kompletní a dobrý trait.

Against the Shadow zavádí do hry nový a velmi příjemný faktor. Každý scénář je uvedený různě dlouhým odstavcem příběhu a pokud se vám podaří scénář porazit, tak na vás po jeho skončení čeká další část příběhu. Všechyn scénaáře pak tvoří jeden ucelený příběh a na konci čeká velký zvrat a vždycky se těšíme až si po vítězství budeme moct další část příběhu přečíst. Je to další faktor, který vás vtáhne ještě více do světa pana Tolkiena a dává hře nový rozměr.

The Drúadan Forest vás zavede do hvozdu, který znají ti, co četli Pána prstenů. Je to tam, kde Ghan-buri-Ghan pomůže Theodenovi a jeho jezdcům obejít skřety a dostat se rychleji na pomoc Minas Tirith. Les je ale plný nástrah a hlavně jeho obyvatel - Drúedain, kteří ho považují za svůj a nestrpí v něm žádné vetřelce. Mějte se před nimi na pozoru. Jinak vás zasypou svými šípi a cestu z lesa už nenajdete, protože jejich umění pohybovat se v lese se nic nevyrovná.
