Indiana Jones, character

Indy was born on July 1, 1899, in New Jersey as Henry Walton Jones. He was named after his father, a professor of medieval literature at Princeton University. At just six years old, the young boy began using the nickname Indiana, which was also the name of his Alaskan Malamute dog. In 1912, Indy's mother died from complications following scarlet fever, leaving his father to raise him alone.

During his youth, Indiana found himself in many intriguing situations and witnessed several major historical events. He sailed on the Titanic (and survived), accompanied Theodore Roosevelt on his travels through Africa, was kidnapped by Pancho Villa, fought in World War I, and even had a brief affair with Mata Hari.

Indy's way with women is legendary. Many beautiful artists and scientists passed through his life, but his deepest and strongest bond was always with his mentor's daughter, Marion Ravenwood. Marion was born on March 23, 1909, and her relationship with Indy lasted five years. They split up in 1925, only to reunite 11 years later while searching for the Ark of the Covenant. Their paths diverged again after Indy called off their planned wedding, unaware that Marion was pregnant.

Indy didn't meet his son, “Mutt” Williams (born Henry Jones III.), until 1957. Together, they rescued Marion and Indy's old friend Harold Oxley from communist fanatics while discovering the mythical crystal skull.

Since Mutt was more like his father than anyone would have liked, he joined the army in 1960 just to spite Indy. Tragically, he died during the Vietnam War, which led to another separation between Marion and Indy. After some time and the dramatic events surrounding the search for the fabled Antikythera Mechanism, the two grieving parents finally found their way back to each other.
