How to properly apply latex ears

If you want to apply the ears yourself, you will definitely need a mirror. However, it is ideal to find someone to help you with the application.

  1. Place the latex ear over your own ear and, if necessary, trim the edges with scissors so that the latex fits well and doesn't overlap. Brush your hair away from your ears so it doesn't get stuck in the joints or glued down.
  2. Apply the included glue with a brush or your fingertip to the outside of your ear cartilage and the areas where the latex ear will attach. After applying, wait about a minute for the glue to become tacky (just test it with your finger) - only then attach the latex ear. Hold the joints for a longer time (a minute is ideal) so the latex adheres well.
  3. Use glue to secure any loose edges. It is ideal to mask the transition between the latex and your skin with liquid latex. If you don't use liquid latex, it's a good idea to cover the bottom part of the ears (where the transitions between the latex and skin are visible) with a strand of hair; a small metal clip-on earring also looks quite good.
  4. Use skin-tone makeup to mask color differences between the latex ear and your own. Highlighting the folds of the latex ear with darker makeup looks great. Remember that latex hates oil, so never use oil-based makeup!

When removing, peel the ears off carefully. To prevent the glued surfaces from sticking to each other, it is a good idea to use powder. If you take good care of the ears, they will last for quite a few applications. The glue can be removed from the ear with regular soap; we do not recommend using any nail polish removers or similar products. Also, do not use any glue other than the one provided to fix the ear (you might find that after applying with contact cement, you won't be able to take the ear off at all…)!
