By the end of the 19th century, the demand for beef grew in both the East and especially the West of the United States. However, getting cattle herds from the Texas plains to the markets was no easy task. There were no railroads in Texas. Therefore, you first had to drive the herds north, usually to Kansas City, and then transport them by train to the West, all the way to San Francisco.

As a rancher, you regularly drive your herds from Texas to Kansas City, where you load them onto trains. You must keep your herd in good condition and cleverly utilize the buildings along the trail. You will also need to hire capable men – cowboys to expand your herd, craftsmen to build your structures, and engineers to help with the railroad.

Whoever takes the best care of their herd, makes the smartest use of the opportunities offered, and avoids the dangerous pitfalls of the trail will earn the most points and emerge victorious.
