Everyone usually reaches for high boots, which we see more often in movies, but I think low boots do the job just as well. Buying nice period footwear costs a pretty penny these days, and when we spend that kind of money, we expect the best. I have a fencer friend who bought high boots for fencing. He cheered about how cheap they were, but after "dancing" through three shows, he had to throw them away and rub his feet with liniment. Today, he has these turnshoes and is very happy with them. They've lasted him quite a while, and he claims (and I agree with him) that they've long since paid for themselves.
