Duel of Ages II
Description
Duel of Ages II is a new version of the classic 2003 board game where Genghis Khan can face off against Buffalo Bill, or imaginary heroes like a little green man from Mars can battle an Amazonian queen. It is also the only strategy game that can be played by 2–16 players simultaneously (with expansions) and mixes items and equipment from both the past and the future (you might see Aramis the musketeer wielding an alien plasma gun).
Two teams play against each other (they don't need to have the same number of players) and try to earn the highest number of victory points within a pre-agreed time limit. You can also choose the skirmish variant, where players try to eliminate each other's characters.
Duel of Ages II begins by building a modular game board and placing labyrinths and domes. Characters are deployed onto the board based on the dome numbers and dice rolls, while victory points and equipment are earned in the labyrinths. Each player starts without equipment, so their first steps usually lead across the plains directly into the labyrinths. Characters have a set number of movement points, and the plains contain various terrain types such as buildings, swamps, forests, rivers, tunnels, etc. Movement across these tiles is slower—or you have to go around them. The first skirmishes also take place on the plains; at first, it's just fisticuffs, but later on, bows, tomahawks, revolvers, rifles, plasma guns, and grenades come into play… So, when you see Buffalo Bill racing across the plains in a horse-drawn chariot, throwing grenades at Spartacus, you're sure to have a blast.
