The contrast paint phenomenon is a bit overhyped; it's a novelty, so it naturally enjoyed 100% marketing attention for a while. On the other hand, when used carefully and skillfully, contrast paints can make your work much easier without sacrificing quality. The effect creates contrast by letting the pigment settle into the deeper parts of the miniature while creating a highlight effect on the edges. This saves you the trouble of manual shading and edge highlighting.

This white might look grey in the attached photo, but that is significantly distorted. The paint only stands out on a textured miniature. The photo shows the application over Corax White, Wraithbone, and Mechanicus Standard Grey.

Fenomén kontrastních barev je trošičku přehnaně vyhecovaný, přeci jen se jedná o novinku, takže měl jeden čas stoprocentní marketingovou pozornost. Na druhou stranu kontrastní barvy mohou při pečlivém a odborném použití dosti ulehčit práci, bez ztráty kvality = efekt vytváří kontrast, kdy se pigment usazuje v hlubších částech na figurce a na hranách vytváří highlight efekt. Ušetřím si tak práci stínování a zvýrazňování hran. Tato bílá působí na přiložené fotce šedivě, ale zde je toto výrazně zkreslené. Barva vynikne pouze na texturované figurce. Na fotce je aplikace na Ceramit White, Wraithbone a Mechanicus Standard Grey.

A color that looks more like grey. For a good white effect, you need to use it in combination with a white drybrush or similar techniques.

Barva, která vypadá spíš jako šedá. Pro dobrý efekt bílé barvy je potřeba použít společně s bílým drybrushem a podobně.

For me, this is one of the most used Contrast paints. It's great for stone, metal, rags… The pigment tends to settle at the bottom, so even with mixing balls, it takes some effort to shake it thoroughly.

Za mě je to jedna z nejpoužívanějších contrastek. Barva vhodná na kameny, kov, hadry… Má velkou tendenci usazovat pigment na dně a i za použití míchacích kuliček dá práci barvu důkladně protřepat.

Contrast paint, great for white surfaces where it perfectly highlights deeper areas. I tried it on a miniature's collar, which brought out the recesses, and then used Ulthuan Grey for the highlights. The final effect was well worth it.

Contrast barva, dobrá na bílý povrch, kde skvěle zvýrazní hlubší místa. Vyzkoušel jsem jí na límec figurky, čímž se zvýraznily prohlubně a na zvýraznění jsem použil Ulthuan Grey. Výsledný efekt pak stál za to.

This white is for speed painting, but it's more of a grey. You'll need to combine it with another white and just give it a light coat.

Bílá na rychlé barvení, je ale spíše šedá, takže je nutné zkombinovat s jinou bílou a jen to decentně přetáhnout.
