People at imago: Honza "Kudis" Kudělka
Another look behind the scenes at imago! An interview with a star of customer communication ✨ and an eternal nerd, Kudis. About his work, hobbies, and future plans.
Today we're chatting with someone you know from customer support. He solves every problem and always adds a funny story on top. He's a born storyteller and one of our company's first employees.
How did you get to imago?
I used standard public transport. 😁 Well, actually, it's a longer story. I've known Jiří and Tom Reitr (the bosses) since childhood, when we met at the cottage every summer. Besides a literally huge amount of outdoor adventures (back in the prehistoric era, there were only 2 TV channels, and computers and consoles were music of the future), we also got a taste of the magic of Dračí doupě.
After school, I disappeared to Brno for about 10 years (I was a careerist back then). The paths of fate and, most importantly, my grandmother's good cooking brought me back to Ostrava. And Jiří offered me a job (he knows I'm a sci-fi and fantasy fan). I still remember the garage sales in Ostrava-Výškovice.
Why are you called Kudis?
Compared to Regis, it's boring. In elementary school, there were 3 of us named Honza, so it's basically a shortened surname. From the initial Kuďa, I evolved into the final Kudis during my student years. Maybe Fallout 2 is to blame (the first game I played on my first PC), where I wanted to play as myself, and without diacritics, I was just a lost wanderer somewhere in Russia instead of a punchy, fearless hero whose name strikes pure terror into the eyes of enemies. And that's exactly what Kudis was, alongside Sulik and Dogmeat. 😂
Can you tell us what you're currently in charge of at imago?
Primarily, it's customer support; you'll run into me via email, and I occasionally chat with customers over the phone. I also process and consult on custom-made orders with our workshop.
Last but not least, I'm also a buyer. You can find my mark on things like lightsabers or hollow metal dice. Unofficially, I'm also a storyteller and hopefully a spreader of good vibes.

Do customers ever misbehave?
Of course they don't. You wouldn't expect any other answer from me, right? If problems do arise and a customer isn't happy with something, I can solve them in the vast majority of cases. That goes for the entire customer support team. We're here for our customers, and they know it.
What do you enjoy about your work?
I enjoy the variety, the interaction with customers, the freedom in decision-making, and collaborating on various creative projects. For the “nerd” in me, this place is like a candy store.
Enough about work. What do you do for fun when you're not here?
Unfortunately, I'm the kind of person who brings work home. Or rather, since I've been here, my wallet has been noticeably lighter. To be able to expertly advise customers on their choices (if needed), I've become a board game collector and also a (mostly theoretical) expert on painting miniatures. I've even infected my 8-and-a-half-year-old son (he constantly emphasizes the half) with this, who managed a giant tarantula using the slap-chop method quite well and regularly beats me at Wingspan or Ticket to Ride.

Do you have any plans for the future? What would you wish for?
To catch up on the mountain of movies and series I haven't seen yet, and also to finish the endless renovation of my home. I also wish I could finally finish painting the mountain of miniatures from W40k and Conquest that I have at home. So, I've got about 20 years of work ahead of me.
