Multiverse News #3

Mandalorian, Wolverine, Dracula, Frankenstein, and the Diablo RPG – the hottest film and gaming news in one place!

Multiverse News #3

A massive dose of news is coming your way – Star Wars returns with The Mandalorian and Grogu, Marvel is preparing a bloody Wolverine, Luc Besson is reviving Dracula, and Guillermo del Toro is bringing Frankenstein to life. And fans of Diablo will finally get their own tabletop RPG.

The Mandalorian and Grogu on the big screen

We'll see the return of Din Djarin and his little companion in 2026 – the upcoming The Mandalorian and Grogu film hits theaters on May 22, 2026. Jon Favreau is directing and co-writing the film with Dave Filoni, continuing the popular The Mandalorian series (2019–2023). Pedro Pascal returns as the Mandalorian, joined by new stars including Sigourney Weaver and Jeremy Allen White. Lucasfilm prioritized the film over a fourth season of the show, with filming taking place in California in late 2024.

The first trailer didn't exactly blow us away. It's clear they're aiming primarily at younger viewers. On the other hand, the creative team suggests the final result might still surprise us.

Currently, several other Star Wars films are in various stages of production. Beyond a few hinted-at new trilogies, these include Star Wars: Starfighter, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, Lando, and a film featuring Rey.

Wolverine shows his claws in a new video game

A major gaming event is coming to PlayStation 5 in 2026 – Marvel’s Wolverine from Insomniac Games. This action-adventure title will offer a brand-new standalone story for the most famous mutant with claws. And it’s going to be unexpectedly brutal. The game was announced back in 2021, but its development faced dramatic moments – in 2023, it was the target of a hacker attack that leaked some of its content.

The studio behind the game is the same one responsible for the excellent Spider-Man titles. They know open-world games inside out. I was surprised by the high rating (17+) for Wolverine. The trailer already shows it will be a bloody affair, which suits the hero perfectly. One thing is clear – expectations are very high.

Dracula returns to the silver screen

Later this October, the film Dracula: A Love Tale, based on Bram Stoker’s famous novel, arrives in theaters. Luc Besson handled both directing and screenwriting, casting Caleb Landry Jones in the lead role, with Christoph Waltz and Zoë Bleu appearing alongside him. The story follows a 15th-century prince who falls into darkness after his wife's death and becomes a vampire. Much later, in 19th-century Paris, he meets a woman strikingly similar to his lost love – and his obsession triggers a tragic fate.

French director Luc Besson is definitely no newcomer. He’s behind the Transporter series, Taxi, and films like Lucy, The Messenger, or the legendary The Fifth Element. While the new Dracula will be a romance, don't expect any stylized vampires like in the Twilight series!

Guillermo del Toro introduces a new Frankenstein

Dracula isn't the only classic horror character making a comeback. Director Guillermo del Toro will present his Frankenstein on Netflix on November 7. Del Toro fulfilled a lifelong dream by filming his own version of the horror classic – Frankenstein. He drew inspiration from his childhood, when he admired monsters on the screen instead of saints, and cites James Whale’s famous 1931 film and its sequel, Bride of Frankenstein, as major influences.

The film premiered at festivals in Toronto and Busan in September 2025 and hits select theaters on October 17. It arrives on Netflix on November 7, 2025. Critics have received the work very positively – it holds 80% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 74/100 rating on Metacritic. The epic visuals and Jacob Elordi’s performance, which reportedly gives the iconic monster new depth and humanity, are receiving the most praise.

First details on the Diablo tabletop RPG

The project from Glass Cannon Unplugged is taking shape – the creative team confirmed that the Diablo RPG will get its own Kickstarter campaign, set to launch toward the end of 2025. The game will use an original system based on tactical cinematic combat – it will utilize multiple D6 dice, combine epic abilities, and heavily incorporate gear, which will influence character stats and skills. The entire core rulebook is expected to have over 300 pages and will offer, in addition to the rules, lore, art, and support from Blizzard’s in-house illustrators.

Multiverse News #3

The Diablo series is among the most successful and best-rated gaming franchises of all time. The first two installments became legends and regularly appear on lists of the best games in history. Diablo II sold 4 million copies in its first year, and Diablo III set a record – 3.5 million copies sold on the first day and 6.3 million in the first week, making it the fastest-selling PC game of all time at that point.

Diablo himself, the central antagonist of the series, is considered one of the most iconic gaming villains. Time magazine named him the second most influential video game character of all time, and Guinness World Records ranked him among the top 50 villains. Other characters in the universe have received similarly high praise, such as the wise Deckard Cain or the angel Tyrael, whose stories have left an indelible mark on the hearts of fans.
