*Welcome to the wild North, a land unexplored, mysterious, and dangerous. When the first humans saw the North, they thought they had found an untouched paradise on Earth. Lush forests grew here, lakes teemed with fish, and streams of cool, clear water flowed from the mountains. But as people began building their settlements, they gradually turned the dense forests into sparse clearings. And nature, which had only silently watched its own destruction until now, began to fight back. Beasts emerged from the darkness—furious, mystical creatures whose claws, fangs, and magical powers no ordinary human can withstand. The settlers of the North therefore called upon experienced hunters and gave them a clear task: find and eliminate the beasts before they do the same to us.*

In the board game Beast, you move through forests, swamps, and caves using a deck of cards—taking on the roles of hunters and the escaping beast. Monsters hide everywhere in the landscape. Once hunters reach a location where a beast is present, they discover its tracks. However, they only reveal the beast's true location when they search the area or the monster attacks.

To succeed and hunt down the beast, the hunters need to cooperate flawlessly. Conversely, the player acting as the beast must plan cleverly and evade capture. Without teamwork, the hunters will never be as strong as their prey. Only by communicating and creating a joint strategy can they take down the monster—before it is too late.

This is the second edition of the game. Changes from the original version are minor—the rules now describe individual hunters and beasts in more detail, including recommendations for strategy and difficulty. Additionally, the game board has been modified to allow writing on it with the dry-erase marker included in the box.
