An Arabian pudding known as Sahlab, Salep, or Saloop. This traditional thick Arabian drink is popular not only in its countries of origin—Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan—but also in Czech tea houses.
The original drink is prepared from the crushed root of the early purple orchid (Orchis mascula—Sahlab means orchid in Arabic). Since Orchis mascula is now a strictly endangered species, its sale is prohibited in the Czech Republic. That is why Arabian pudding is used to prepare the drink today.
Packaged in 100g portions.
Preparation tip: 100g of powder makes approximately 0.6 liters of the drink. Gradually whisk the pudding into hot milk and simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring constantly. You can sweeten it with vanilla sugar or add ginger or rose water. Serve the drink lightly dusted with cinnamon.
Ingredients: sugar, musk, and a blend of natural hydrocolloids/stabilizers: guar gum F415, locust bean gum F410, and sodium alginate E401.

Great on its own, but absolutely amazing when spiced up with nuts, almonds, raisins, cinnamon, or a bit of chocolate. Packed in individual 100g portions, so it's perfect as a travel snack to fuel you up after a demanding hike :-)
Výborný jen tak, ale po dochucení oříšky, mandlemi, rozinkami, skořicí nebo troškou čokolády naprosto úžasný. Baleno jednotlivě po 100g, takže je vhodný i pytlík na cesty jako doping po náročné tůře :-)
The package is really generous and once prepared, the taste is indistinguishable from the Sahlab you get at a tea house. This is a must-have for every Sahlab lover. I personally make mine with strawberries at the bottom and a sprinkle of cinnamon on top :)
Balení je opravdu bohaté a po přípravě chutí nerozeznatelné od Sahlapu, co dostanete v čajovně. Tohle prostě každý, kdo má Sahlap rád, musí mít. Já si ho osobně dělám s jahodama na dně a skořicí posypaný nahoře :)
I love this treat, I order it regularly in tea houses, and when I saw it here, I couldn't resist. I was quite worried it wouldn't be the same, but it's simple and more or less quick to make. The taste is great, it doesn't even need extra seasoning (I personally only add cinnamon), and there's basically nothing that can go wrong. I definitely recommend it!!
Tuto pochoutku miluji, v čajovnách si jí pravidelně dávám a když jsem jí viděla tady, nemohla jsem odolat. Dost jsem se bála, že to nebude ono, ale je to jednoduché a více méně rychlé, chuť je skvělá, nemusí se ani dochucovat (já osobně dávám pouze skořici) a v podstatě není co zkazit. Rozhodně doporučuji!!
