Andean Abyss

In 1990s Colombia, you could encounter the last Marxist guerrillas, brutal drug lords, and right-wing death squads. At the time, the entire state seemed on the verge of absolute collapse and extinction. Decades later, the Marxists are without their leaders and hideouts, the main drug lords are dead or imprisoned, and peace and disarmament are being negotiated with paramilitary units. The government has expanded its power across the country, restored its former popularity, and improved the economy and human rights. Can you replicate this in the game Andean Abyss?

Andean Abyss takes you into the conflicts of turbulent Colombia. Guerrillas and police, kidnappings and the fight for the drug trade, army purges, and terror. Each of the four factions has its own methods to gain influence and achieve its goals. Players will enjoy beautiful colorful maps, a total of 160 wooden components, and 72 event cards. The game depicts insurgency and counter-insurgency, population control, maintaining lines of communication, terrain, intelligence services, foreign aid, secret hideouts, visits from foreign politicians, the military, and the economy.

Andean Abyss introduces a new game system that can be applied to other modern conflicts. In the future, we can expect more games in the series that this game kicks off – Counter-Insurgency (COIN for short).
