Since I've owned an older (multilingual) edition for some time, this review will essentially be a comparison, as the gameplay remains unchanged, though the graphics and production certainly have.

The first and most visible change is the tile tower, which naturally means you won't find the cloth bag for drawing tiles in the box anymore. The tower is easy to assemble, sturdy, looks great on the table, and most importantly, it fits inside the closed box, so there's no need to take it apart and put it back together. At second glance, you'll notice the redesigned scoring board, the market board (both placed in the center of the table), the money cards, and the player boards that each player has in front of them.

Everything is more colorful, moving away from dull colors and gray tones. Everything matches nicely, perhaps with the exception of the player boards and scoring cards, which feel a bit too simplified graphically. However, the scoring board and market board look good; both are made of two interlocking parts, though I personally still think the large board from the special edition is much nicer.
The money cards are also very well designed, and I really like them, just like the individual tiles, which are improved but still in the spirit of the original art (and instead of a black line, it's now an actual wall).

Unfortunately, the graphics on the back are slightly misaligned, as if the printer missed the mark, and on some tiles, a piece of the wall is even cut off. If you still own the original edition, you might also be surprised by the change regarding the names on the tiles and coins, which have been removed.
This change was already implemented in the previous multilingual edition, so it wasn't news to me. If you have expansions at home, they are compatible, though not all parts look great together.
This is most noticeable with the Vizier's Favor expansion, where the Residential Buildings, Bonus Buildings, and Exchange Office don't quite fit in graphically anymore.

Overall, I can say that I'm satisfied with the new edition, and Alhambra remains a beautiful and enjoyable family game that I'll gladly play anytime.

Jelikož už vlastním nějakou dobu starší (multijazyčnou) edici, bude tahle recenze v podstatě pouze srovnávací, protože herně se nic nemění, za to graficky a produkčně ano.

První z nejvíce viditelných změn je věž na dílky, což samozřejmě znamená, že už v krabici nenajdete látkový pytlík, ze kterého by se dílky losovaly. Věž je jednoduché složit, dobře drží, na herním stole i pěkně vypadá a co je nejhlavnější, vejde se i do zavřené krabice, takže není potřeba opakované skládání a rozkládání. Na druhý pohled zaujme pozměněná bodovací deska, deska tržiště (oboje vyložené uprostřed stolu), peněžní karty a tabulka hodnot, kterou má každý hráč před sebou.

Vše je barevnější, upustilo se od nevýrazných barev a šedých tónů. Vše k sobě pěkně ladí, snad jen kromě tabulek hodnot a vyhodnocovacích karet, ty mi připadají graficky až příliš zjednodušené. Bodovací deska a deska tržiště vypadají ale pěkně, obě desky jsou složené ze dvou do sebe zapadajících částí, osobně si ale myslím, že velká deska ze speciální edice je i tak mnohem hezčí.
Peněžní karty jsou také opravdu hezky graficky vyvedené a hodně se mi líbí, stejně tak jako jednotlivé dílky, které jsou vylepšené, ale stále duchu původní grafiky (a místo černé čáry je opravdu zeď).

Bohužel grafika na zadní straně je lehce odsazená, jako by se v tiskárně přesně netrefili, na některých dílcích je i takhle uříznutý kus zdi. Pokud vlastníte ještě původní vydání, tak vás zřejmě překvapí i změna týkající se názvů na dílcích a mincích, které byly vypuštěny.
Tato změna byla provedena už v předchozím multijazyčném vydání, takže to pro mě nebyla novinka. Pokud máte doma rozšíření, jsou kompatibilní, ovšem ne všechny části vypadají dohromady pěkně.
Nejvíc je to vidět u Vezírově přízně, tam Obytné domy, Bonusové domy a Směnárna už příliš graficky nezapadají.

Celkově ale mohu říct, že jsem s novou edicí spokojen a Alhambra stále zůstává krásnou a příjemnou rodinou hru, kterou si kdykoliv s oblibou zahraji.
