In the first expansion, The Era of Intrigue, you manage the spiritual balance of Catan—you lose cards through religious conflicts, while churches and temples help you minimize your losses. The Era of Merchant Princes! thematic deck focuses on Catan's trade. Use trade harbors, merchant residences, merchant ships, and other cards to strive for commercial dominance. In the third expansion, The Era of Barbarians, both players must defend against raids by wild barbarians. Can you defend yourself using your castles, border fortresses, strategists, caravels, and new heroes? Will you emerge victorious, or will your realms be plundered?
