Description

"When did it all start? I can’t really remember. It started like any recreational activity, I guess. Like TV. Sometimes they watched TV and sometimes they would sit there wearing their neurocasters. I didn’t care. It was after the big update of 1996 that things got weird. Mode Six."

Embark on a journey through a strange America in an alternate 1997. The West Coast is littered with wrecks of gigantic battle drones piled up alongside the trash of a decaying high-tech consumer society.

The rulebook is in English.

The Electric State roleplaying game isn't primarily about reaching a goal, but about the journey itself – what the characters in your group experience and how it changes them. It places emphasis on exploration, and whether you're traversing the abandoned countryside or sprawling cities, there is plenty to discover in this bizarre alternate history. The book also includes a separate map of the region known as Pacifica, covering the area between San Francisco and Los Angeles, bordering the Blackwelt exclusion zone.

The playstyle of The Electric State RPG Core Rulebook focuses on discovering who you are in this new world order and who your friends really are. Throughout your adventure, you'll often ask yourself: "What are you willing to do when the world around you is collapsing?"

This tabletop RPG uses the proven Year Zero Engine, known from other award-winning roleplaying games by Free League such as Mutant: Year Zero, Tales From the Loop, ALIEN, and Blade Runner. In principle, it involves rolling a few six-sided dice, where you only need one six to succeed. The number of dice you roll depends on your core attributes: Strength, Agility, Wits, Empathy, Health, and Gear.

The rulebook is visually based on the narrative art book The Electric State. It is a full-color hardcover volume featuring dozens of illustrations by the acclaimed visual artist Simon Stålenhag.
