Star Trek: Ascendancy

• one of the best Star Trek-themed games
• nice graphics and high-quality components
• great exploration mechanics and modular universe building
• the mechanics fit the Star Trek universe perfectly and the atmosphere is spot on
• a huge number of expansions and add-ons available

• the base game only supports 3 players; more players require expansions
• playing with fewer than 3 players is only possible with the Borg Assimilation expansion, which has poorly implemented rules
• player turns can take quite a while; with more than 3 players, it might feel too "slow" for some

If you're a huge Star Trek fan, have a gaming group for it, and the mentioned downsides don't bother you that much, add another star to the rating :).

The game has a surprisingly large number of components.
I'd rate the quality of the components, especially the plastic ones, as follows: on one hand, I like their size and look, but the quality feels average, which isn't bad at all.

I really like the graphics of the planets and other space objects. The cards are also visually appealing, but you definitely need to sleeve them.

The box also included a separate pack of 15 cards, which is a promo for the first edition, so there are 60 exploration cards in total instead of 45.

Hra má prekvapivo veľa komponentov.
Kvalitu komponentov, hlavne tých plastových hodnotím tak, že na jednej strane, mne sa páči ich veľkosť aj vzhľad, ale kvalitou mi prídu priemer, čo však nie je zlé.

Veľmi sa mi páči grafika planét a ďalších vesmírnych objektov. Karty sú opäť graficky pekné, ale jednoznačne ich treba obaliť.

V balení sa navyše nachádzal aj samostatný balíček 15 kariet, čo je promo k prvému vydaniu, Takze tam nie je 45 ale spolu 60 exploration kariet.

It's a fantastic 4X strategy game. Every session is different, making every playthrough unique and engaging! Highly recommended for any Star Trek fan.
