You can play it as a standalone game or as an expansion for the base Star Realms. It doesn't bring anything groundbreaking, but adding it to the base game increases variety and allows for a smooth four-player experience. If you enjoy the base game, you definitely won't go wrong with this big box, though keep in mind that once combined, the deck gets quite bulky and less portable.

Dá se hrát jak samostatně, tak jako rozšíření pro základní Star Realms. Nepřináší sice nic nového, ale když se přidá do základu, zvětší alespoň variabilitu, navíc umožní pohodové hraní čtyř hráčů. Koho baví základ určitě neudělá chybu ani s tímhle velkým balením, jen po spojení se základem už herní balík docela nakyne a není už tak dobře skladný.

A great expansion for the original game that also works as a standalone. Personally, I prefer adding it to the base game to expand it with new cards.

Thanks to Colony Wars, you can spice up the original game with new cards and mechanics. Playing with more players is also an interesting option, which wasn't nearly as fun with just the base deck.

I keep my cards in sleeves – it's definitely worth it. I replaced the life tracker cards with knitting counters or a mobile app. That's probably the only thing I'd criticize about the game; otherwise, I could play it over and over again.

Díky colony wars lze původní hru různě zpestřovat novými kartami a hernímy principy. Zajimavou možností je i hra ve více hráčích, která s původním balíčkem nebyla zdaleka tak zajímavá.

Karty na fotce mám v obalech - rozhodně se to vyplatí. Karty životů jsem nahradil pletacími počítadly nebo aplikací v mobilu. Toto je asi jediné co bych na hře kritizoval jinak bych ji mohl hrát stále dokola.

Colony Wars could be described as the second starter deck for the card game legend Star Realms. You can play it as a standalone game, mix it with the base set, or combine it with other boosters. The starting ships are identical to the original, but you'll notice a change in the ally ships and bases as soon as you reveal the first five cards in the trade row. Each one acts like an upgraded vessel from the base edition. Consequently, matches are more aggressive, faster, and full of dramatic twists where a seemingly dominant player can lose the game in a single turn. You should therefore be more deliberate when choosing which ships and bases to buy compared to previous editions.

Note: You'll also get the Stealth Tower base, which is the equivalent of the Stealth Needle ship from the base set and allows you to copy any other base in the game.

Koloniální války; by se daly označit jako druhý starter deck karetní legendy Star Realms. Možno hrát samostatně, nebo smíchat se základním balíkem, popř. s dalšími boostery. Lodě, s nimiž hráči začínají, jsou identické. Změna však nastává u lodí a základen spojenců, což zjistíte hned, jak vyložíte prvních pět karet na tržiště. Každá z nich totiž působí jako upgradované plavidlo ze základní edice. Klání je v souvislosti s tím agresivnější, rychlejší a plné výraznějších zvratů, kdy zdánlivě silnější hráč může v jednom kole prohrát hru. Volba při nákupu lodí a základen by proto měla být rozvážnější, než v předchozích edicích.

Pozn.: Dočkáte se i základny Stealth Tower, jež je obdobou lodě Stealth Needle ze základu a pro změnu kopíruje libovolnou základnu ve hře.

This is definitely worth buying for the base game. It adds new cards and abilities, expanding your options. I really appreciate the 4-player mode; while the base game supported it, it didn't feel quite right until now. The box is small enough to fit in your other pocket—assuming you've got the base game in the first one :D I also love the beautiful illustrations, and if you're a Star Realms fan, this is a no-brainer.

Rozhodně se vyplatí dokoupit k základní hře. Přidá nové karty a vlastnosti a zvýší možnosti. Oceňuji možnost hraní ve 4 hráčích, což šlo i u základu, ale nebylo to úplně ono. Krabička není velká a tak se vám vejde do druhé kapsy - v první máte zakladní hru :D Líbí se mi také pěkné ilustrace a pokud jste fanoušek Star Realms, není co řešit.
