In Mutant Chronicles, you become the commander of one of several factions and try to defeat your opponents on the battlefield. The game relies on the proven principle of building your own army and testing its strengths and weaknesses in combat. The main assets of this game are the unusually large, well-painted, and detailed plastic miniatures, simple rules, and fast-paced gameplay.

The starter set offers everything you need for two players – six miniatures for your first simple battles and a complete set of tokens, unit cards, and command cards to build your own armies.

The combat system is based on proven principles introduced in board games like Descent and Doom. Special six-sided dice are used for attack rolls to determine range and hits. Each unit card specifies which dice to roll during an attack.

Building your own army adds another dimension of fun to the game. In this starter set, you will find a complete set of command cards and unit cards for all miniatures available in the first edition of the game. Along with a number of command and damage tokens, this provides a solid foundation for building any custom army.

The rules are easy to understand and filled with plenty of pictures and examples. The game mechanics are well-thought-out and polished down to the last detail, such as the practical damage tokens that slide into the miniature bases.
