Lone Wolf book series - paperback

I bought the book a few days ago, finished it yesterday, and opened it again with interest today. I've been looking forward to the translation of the last four volumes since the last millennium, so a huge thank you to the publisher and their team for getting it done. Five stars for the beautiful production, communication, and fast delivery.

Naarova kletba is a beautifully illustrated and thrilling conclusion to the entire story, bringing the legend back to life in the minds of readers. The landscape, flora, and fauna feel even more surreal at times than in previous journeys to Daziarn, but I think that was exactly the author's intention, and it works perfectly as a whole.

I hope the next playful translations of the following series won't keep us waiting long and that the Kai Order will expand its ranks in our Czech-enlightened dimensions as well.

Před pár dny jsem knihu koupil, včera dohrál a dnes znovu se zájmem otevřel. Na překlad posledních čtyř dílů jsem se těšil od minulého tisíciletí, proto vydavateli a jeho týmu moc děkuji, že se to povedlo dokončit. Dávám pět hvězd za moc pěkné zpracování, komunikaci i rychlost dodání.

Naarova kletba je krásně vymalovanym a napínavým vyvrcholením celého příběhu a legenda tak v myslích čtenářů znovu ožívá. Krajina, fauna i flóra pusobi chvilkama ještě víc nelogicky než v předchozích výpravách do daziarnu, ale myslím, že o to autorovi právě šlo a jako celek se to také podařilo.

Doufám, že další hravé překlady následující série na sebe nenechají dlouho čekat a řád Kai rozšíří své řady i v našich česky osvícených rozměrech.

I expected chaos and a bizarre sequence of events like in the latest LW installments, but this new narrative and stylistic approach returns to the old classics, which pleasantly surprised me.

Unfortunately, I have to criticize the translations and the inconsistency of names throughout the LW universe. Poor Benedon's airship has already been renamed at least three times. The original character name translations from the first Lone Wolf editions in the 80s and 90s are simply better. The introductory manifest is unnecessarily repeated three times. Those pages could have been used for illustrations instead.

The selection process for Weapon Mastery isn't defined—whether the player should choose it or generate it using a Random Number Table, especially since those numbers are already under the weapon illustrations. Still, I am happy and grateful that Mytago brought the LW series to a conclusion, and I hope this new series continues on the classic path, that the editors and translators learn from these mistakes, and that it gets even better.

Očekával jsem chaos a prapodivný sled událostí jako v posledních dílech LW, ale toto nové navázání “příběhově” a stylem se vrací ke staré klasice, což mne mile překvapilo.

Bohužel musím vytknout překlady a nedržení názvů z celého LW universa. Chudák Benedonova vzdušná loď už je nejméně 3x pokřtěna jiným jménem. Originál překlady jmen postav v prvních vydání Lone Wolfa z 80-90. let jsou prostě lepší. Zbytečně 3x průvodní listina. Místo toho mohly být volné stránky na ilustrace.

Není definován výběr Ovládnutí zbraně, jestli si má hráč vybrat nebo vygenerovat pomocí TN, když už tam ta čísla pod obrázky zbraní jsou. Ale jsem rád a vděčný, že Mytago dotáhlo LW sérii do konce a snad tato nová série půjde dál klasickou cestou, editoři a překladatelé se poučí z chyb a bude to ještě lepší.

After the disappointment of the last 2 installments, Lone Wolf returns from the astral planes—where Alyss from the LW legends gives advice and flowers and pineapples are the size of a small house. Or rather, his disciple does. Sure, critics might say book 21 is too linear and repetitive with a few "instant" deaths, but for me, it's classic Lone Wolf through and through. It's like Fire on the Water with an 1800-mile detour further south, spiced up with a touch of The Shadows of Sand. 9.5/10

Po zklamání z posledních 2 dílů se z astrálních rovin, kde radí Alyss z legend o LW a kde jsou květiny a ananasy velikosti menšího domu, vrací opět LW. Přesněji jeho žák. Určitě se najdou kritici, že je díl 21 příliš lineární a opakující s několika "instant" smrtmi, ale pro mě naprosto přesně starý dobrý LW. Oheń na vodě s prodlouženou cestou o 1800 mil dále na jih, říznutý Stínem na písku. 9,5/10
