The only word that defines this game. If you know the film series, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. This deck-building game captures the atmosphere of the four Alien movies, sticks to the scripts as much as possible, and forces players to cooperate. There's almost nothing to fault the game for, except perhaps the small number of scenarios. But even those will last you a long time... If you love the Alien universe, this game is exactly for you; it will captivate you and never let go :-)

Jedine slovo ktorym sa da definovat tato hra. Pokial poznate filmovu seriu, tak budete presne vediet o com hovorim. Tato deckbuildingova hra napodobuje atmosferu 4 filmov zo serie votrelcov, drzi sa podla moznosti scenara, a nuti hracov kooperovat. Hre takmer nie je co vytknut snad okrem maleho mnozstva scenarov. Ale aj tie vystacia na dlhu dobu... Ak mate radi Alien universe, tato hra je presne pre Vas, uchvati Vas a uz neopusti :-)

... Hicks pocuje sramot, v power station sa pohne tmavy tien, je to snad nejaky prezivsi? Hicks opatrne vytiahne scanner... namieri ... Z tmaveho kuta skoci facehugger, Hicks uhne hlavou ale neskoro... este sa obzrie na Ripleyovu ktora je za nim a vidi v jej ociach hrozu.. Nema mu ako pomoct... Hicks uz vie ze zije na pozicany cas... Za par okamihov z neho bude masina na zabijanie.... Alien

After a positive experience with Legendary, as a fan of the Alien film series, I was really looking forward to Encounters. My expectations were met in every detail. There is no other deck-builder on the market with such a fantastic, dense atmosphere. The individual scenarios stick to the source material, and it's a joy to see how everything works so beautifully. As for the actual card play, the game doesn't bring anything revolutionary, but the way it unfolds on the awesome game board is amazing. The movement of Aliens and other nuisances in the form of hidden cards through the complex, dangerous events, completing objectives, surprises when flipping cards, the uncertainty when your hero takes damage, mutual help in co-op by playing cards during another player's turn, the Facehugger that can get into your deck and cause a new Alien to be born, which then plays against the others. Everything works perfectly. A must-buy for Alien fans.

Po pozitívnej skúsenosti s Legendary som sa ako fanúšik filmovej série Votrelcov tešil na Encounters. Moje očakávania boli do bodky splnené. Neexistuje na trhu žiadny iný deckbuilding, ktorý by mal tak fantasickú, hutnú atmosféru. Jednotlivé scenáre sa držia filmových predlôh a je radosť vidieť, ako všetko krásne funguje. Čo sa týka samotného hrania kariet v balíčku hra neprináša nič revolučné, ale práve spôsob akým hra prebieha na parádnej hracej doske je úžasný. Pohyb Alienov a iných nepríjeností vo forme skrytých kariet po komplexe, nebezpečné eventy, plnenie úloh, prekvapenia pri otáčaní kariet, neistota pri získaní zranenia vášho hrdinu, vzájomná pomoc pri koperácii zahraním karty v ťahu druhého hráča, Facehugger, ktorý sa môže dostať do balíčka a spôsobiť narodenie nového Aliena, ktorý následne hrá proti ostatným. Všetko to nádherne funguje. Pre fanúšikov Alienov povinná kúpa.

I ordered Legendary Encounters based on my positive experience with the superhero version of Legendary. However, the Alien theme was closer to my heart. Indeed, playing through the four pre-set scenarios perfectly captures the nostalgic atmosphere of the film series. I was also pleasantly surprised by several new features compared to the original Legendary. The game is now primarily fully cooperative, with the option to add a versus mode using agenda cards. Players can also die during the game, whether from severe injuries or a successful facehugger attack. In the latter case, they become full-fledged members of the Alien horde.
I could probably go on like this for quite a while. In a way, the game is the same as Legendary, but at its core, it's completely different.

What did I like about the design, etc.? Practically everything. Especially the large roll-out playmat instead of a standard board. Furthermore, the very appealing design and successful illustrations of the Aliens and other characters. My overall impression is very, very positive.

Legendary Encounters: jsem si objednal na základě pozitivní zkušenosti se superhdinskou verzí Legendary. Vetřelecká tematika ale byla mému srdci tak nějak bližší. Skutečně, hra čtveřicí předpřipravených scénářů navozuje nostalgickou atmosféru filmové série. Dále mne velmi příjemně překvapilo několik novinek oproti původním Legendary. Hra je nyní primárně zcela kooperativní s možností přidat vs mód pomocí karet agendy. Hráči také mohou během hry zemřít, ať už následkem svých těžkých zranění nebo úspěšného útoku facehugger. Ve druhém ze zmíněných případů se z nich stávají plnohodnotní členi vetřelecké bandy.
Takto bych tu patrně mohl vypisovat poměrně dlouho. Hra je svým způsobem stejná jako Legendary, ale ve své podstatě úplně jiná.

Co se mi líbilo na designu atd? Prakticky vše. Zejména velký rolovací hrací plán, žádná deska, jak bývá zvykem. Dále velmi líbivý design a zdařilé ilustrace vetřelců i dalších charakterů. Celkový dojem velmi velmi pozitivní.

An absolutely brilliant thematic deck-building game. Excellent neoprene playmat, cards with stunning artwork and great cardstock. Relatively simple rules. Scenarios based on the iconic Alien movies. The Legendary engine from Upper Deck works perfectly. It could be a few hundred cheaper, but that's how it is. I don't recommend it if you aren't an Alien fan, as that's a prerequisite for playing.

Naprosto skvely tematicky deckbuilding. Vyborna neoprenova hraci podlozka, karty s uzasnou grafikou i gramazi. Relativne jednoduche pravidla. Scenare podle kultovnich filmu vetrelec. Vyborne fungujici engine legendary od upperdecku. Mozna by to mohlo byt o par stovek levnejsi, ale bohuzel. Nedoporucuji pokud nejste fanousek do Vetrelce, coz je podminka ke hrani.

An atmospheric deck-building game where you try to survive the events of all four Alien movies. It features several difficulty modes, but even the easiest one is a pure adrenaline rush. Since all cards have the same back, sorting them is a bit of a chore, and card sleeves are a must if you want to keep them in good condition. The game board is nice, but sleeved cards sometimes cover up the text on the board.

Atmosferický deckbuilding,kde si můžete zkusit přežít v atmosféře všech čtyř filmů s Vetřelčí tématikou. Dá se hrát v několika obtížnostních módech, ale dohrát i ten nejlehčí je záležitost adrenalinu. Kartičky jsou všechny se stejným rubem a tak je trošku problém je efektivně třídit a pokud si je nechcete ohrát, obaly jsou nutností. Pěkná je henrí podložka, ale obaly na kartách občas pořekrývají popisky na desce.

A must-have for board game fans of Alien and the entire saga! You can combine it with the Legendary Encounters: A Predator deck-building game for an interesting mix, though I haven't tried that myself.

Pre hráčov stolových hier, ktorí sú fanúšikmi Votrelca resp. celej ságy povinnosť! Dá sa kombinovať s Legendary Encounters: a Predator deck building game, čo môže byť zaujímavý mix, avšak nemám s tým skúsenosť.
