A pretty decent game, depending on how much you like Harry Potter, deck-building mechanics, and fully cooperative gameplay. The English is simple; kids 9+ who are used to games can remember the card effects or pick up new vocabulary as they play.

Personally, it didn't blow me away, but it didn't disappoint either. It feels like a fairly standard deck-builder, refreshed by the gradual addition of new elements. My lukewarm feelings toward HP might be the reason—even though I've read the books, seen the movies, and enjoyed them well enough. I play it with my son and his friend/classmate—the latter seems to like it the most.
It's clear that the theme makes the biggest impression. If you're a die-hard HP fan, this is a "must-have." I already own Ascension as a very solid deck-builder, so once we finish this, I'll consider whether to pass it on. To be fair, we've only played 4 games so far, so we'll see what's in store, especially with the expansions...
It's definitely a great game for someone who doesn't own a deck-builder yet, likes the theme (Harry Potter), and enjoys cooperative games.
As for the English, the boys have been learning for 2 years (4th grade, 9/10 years old) at school. I explain the rules to them, which is no problem. I read the cards and try to teach them a few terms so they learn new vocabulary while playing. It's motivating, and later on, I won't have to worry about language barriers in games, which is a plus :)
Yes, the game's difficulty increases. It's interesting that the game has stages corresponding to the books (7 boxes in total), each bringing a new element or change to the game. The heroes themselves also improve—they gain new abilities. So, the game is definitely not "dumb," and for the price, it's a solid amount of fun.

Otherwise, my son isn't really into the game; we have to talk him into playing. I'm not sure if it's the English, the theme, or the mechanics—I'll try to get it out of him. He plays other deck-builders (Ascension) quite a bit (though he dislikes the theme and the metallic card finish in Ascension—which bothers me too), and I think he finds the gameplay interesting (combining and building a deck during the game). His friend clearly likes it more, though I don't know why. But I'd say his friend is generally drawn to board games, so that might be it.
In general, I'd say it's a fine game for family gamers and HP fans.

Celkem slušná hra, záleží jak moc hráče táhne Harry Potter, mechanika stavění balíku při hře a plně kooperativní hra. Angličtina je jednoduchá, hrami poznamenaná děti 9+ si vysvětlené karty pamatují, nebo se pruběžně doučují slovíčka.

Mě osobně to zas tak moc nenadchlo, ale ani neurazilo. Přijde mi to jako takový celkem obyčejný deckbuilding, je to osvěžené postupným přidáváním nových prvků. Ale u mě to asi naráží na vlažný vztah k HP - byť knihy samotné jsem četl, filmy viděl a i se mi to celkem líbilo. Hru hraju s juniorem a jeho kamarádem/spolužákem - tomu se to líbí asi nejvíce.
Je jasné, že největší dojem udělá téma. Pokud někdo HP doslova "žere", tak je to pro něj asi "must have". Jako velmi pěkný deckbuilding mám již Ascension, takže až tohle dohrajeme, budu zvažovat, jestli to raději nepošlu dál. Je pravda, že jsme zatím dohráli teprve 4. hru, takže uvidíme, co nás čeká dál a pak ještě rozšíření...
Určitě je to prima hra pro někoho, kdo žádný deckbuilding nemá, líbí se mu námět (Harry Potter) a líbí se mu kooperativní styl hry. Co se týče Angličtiny, tak kluci se učí 2. rokem (4. třída, 9/10 let) na základce. Pravidla jim vysvětlím, to není problém. Karty přečtu a snažím se je vždy naučit pár pojmů, aby se zároveň s hrou naučili i nějaká nová slovíčka. Ono je to takové motivační a později nebudu muset řešit češtinu u her, což je plus :)
Ano, obtížnost hry se stupňuje. Zajímavé je i to, že hra má etapy odpovídající dílům románu (celkem tedy 7 krabiček her) a každý přináší nějaký nový prvek či změnu do hry. Také se zlepšují samotní hrdinové - dostávají nové schopnosti. Takže hra jako takové rozhodně není "blbá" a za ty prachy je to zábava na solidní dobu.

Jinak juniorovi hra moc nesedí, musíme ho ke hře ukecat. Nevím, je-li to Angličtinou, tématem, nebo mechanismy - zkusím to z něj vytáhnout. Deckbuilding (Ascenssion) jinak docela hraje (u Ascension mu trochu vadí téma, víc pokovené provedení karet - což vadí i mě) a myslím, že mu přijde i herně zajímavý (kombinovaní a stavění balíku při hře). Jeho kamarádovi se to líbí evidentně víc, ale důvod také nevím. Ale kamaráda (řekl bych) deskovky celkově dost přitahují, tak možná i proto.
Čili zcela obecně bych si troufl tvrdit, že pro hráče rodinných her a příznivce HP je to fajn hra.

An ideal game for anyone who loves deck-building mechanics. We love Star Realms, but this is on a whole new level!
We play it with friends as a campaign, each of us taking on a different character.
The game itself has a "Legendary" feel with all the packs you open, constantly discovering new content as the game gets more engaging and challenging.

Spoiler: Characters age over time and gain new abilities!!!! Plus, new equipment, spell, and villain cards are added to the game that you have to defeat!!

Pro všechny které oslovila mechanika DeckBuilding, ideální hra. My máme moc rádi StarRealms a tohle je o několik levelů výš! Hrajeme s přáteli jako hru na pokračování každý za jinou postavu.
Hra jako taková má až "Legendary" feel se všemi těmi balíčky, které rozbalujete postupně objevujete neustále nový obsah hry a hra jako taková se stává čím dál více záživnější a těžší.
