The gamebook itself is great. It's actually the first one I've encountered that offers such high freedom in gameplay and party movement both within the book and between books.
What's more, you can use an app (web or mobile) alongside the book to manage your party's records, inventory, injuries, stats, gold, and map. It also handles challenge rolls, combat, tracking health for both your party and enemies, and managing spells... Unfortunately, it's only in English. While that's fine, searching for items in your inventory requires English proficiency and a bit of extra imagination. Given the dice mechanics, which require a large number of dice (for a gamebook), the app is almost essential.
For me, the relatively small font is a bit of a drawback. It's even smaller in the introduction and conclusion than in the main game text. The game text is just about readable, but the chicken scratch used in the party record form is questionable. The included bonus cards are practically unusable.
On the other hand, the folded color map is a nice bonus. I hope all parts of the series get released. A large world map folded to fit into a book-sized envelope would be a great addition then. :)
Samotný gamebook je prima. Vlastně jsem poprvé narazil na typ, který má vysokou volnost ve hraní a cestování družiny knihou a mezi knihami.
Navíc ke knize lze používat aplikaci (web či mobil), pro vedení záznamů družiny, inventář, zranění, vlastnosti, peníze, mapu, ale i hody na výzvy, boj a sledování zdraví družiny i nepřátel, vedení kouzel... Bohužel jen v AJ, což je sice v pohodě, leč při hledání předmětů v inventáři vyžaduje znalost AJ a trochu fantasie navíc. Vzhledek k mechinice hodů, která vyžaduje (na gamebook) velké množství kostek, je appka skoro nezbytná.
Pro mě je poněkud nepříjemné pouze relativně drobné písmo. V úvodu a závěru knihy je dokonce ještě menší, než v herním textu. Herní textu je tedy ještě jakž takž čitelný. Muří nožky použité ve formuláři pro vedení družiny je už na pováženou. Přiložené kartičky jako bonus jsou prakticky nepoužitelné.
Naopak je příjemným bonusem složená barevná mapa. Doufám, že vyjdou všechny díly série. Potom by se šikla i velká mapa světa poskládaná do formátu v obálce velikosti knih. :)
