Elder Sign is a nice game, but it's too simple. Expansions increase the difficulty, but mostly through punishing cards rather than the game mechanics themselves.

This breathes new life into the mechanics, drawing inspiration from Arkham Horror. It adds phobias from Dunwich (when a character's sanity drops to 0, they aren't destroyed, but they suffer penalties), epic battles against Ancient Ones from Kingsport (so it's no longer just about rolling hits to finish the game; expect some twists), and the third addition is Epitaphs (when a character's health drops to 0, they die, but leave behind a complication that makes the game harder). Overall, it's a brilliant idea that revitalizes parts of the game—I really hope this gets a Czech release!

Elder Sign je hezká hra, ale příliš jednoduchá. Rozšíření hře přidávají na obtížnosti, ale spíš díky těžkým kartám, než kvůli samotným herním mechanikám.

Tohle oživuje mechaniky po vzoru Arkham Horroru a přidává z Dunwiche fóbie (když postavě klesne přičetnost na 0, není zničená, jen bude mtí postihy), z Kingsportu epické bitvy z prastarými (takže už to nebude jen o tom naházet údery a nějak to dohrát, přijdou i zvraty) a třetí položka jsou Epitafy (když postavě klesne život na 0, umře, ale zůstane po ní nějaký průšvih a hra se stíží). Obecně výborný nápad oživující některé části hry a kéž by toto vyšlo i česky!
