D&D Dragons of Stormwreck Isle Starter Set

We have another D&D starter set here, titled Dragons of Stormwreck Isle. What does it offer? At first glance, it’s almost identical to the original starter set. You get dice, a welcome sheet to the world of D&D, a rulebook, an adventure booklet, and 5 pre-generated characters—just fill in their names and jump straight into the game.

The rules cover the essentials every player needs to know, so there’s not much to comment on there.

As for the adventure itself, it feels more "epic," or perhaps even megalomaniacal. The first starter set felt more intimate, but here the authors throw you right into a dragon-centric adventure. The obvious question is: how suitable is this for level 1 beginners? I don't mean in terms of difficulty, but rather the approach to character development. It feels a bit strange to drop level 1 characters into a conflict between bronze and chromatic dragons, but so be it. If you're starting with D&D and love dragons, this adventure might be for you. If you can't decide, I’d personally prefer the first starter set. Well, the choice is yours.

Tak tu máme další starter set pro DD, který nese název Dragons of Stormwreck Isle. A co nám nabízí? Na první pohled se vlastně skoro neliší od původního starter setu. Máme zde kostky, papír k uvítání do herního světa DD, brožuru pravidel, brožuru dobrodružství a nakonec 5 předpřipravených postav, kterým stačí dopsat jméno a hurá do hry. Pravidla obsahují standardně to nejnutnější, co hráči potřebují vědět a asi nemá cenu to příliš komentovat. Co se týče samotného dobrodružství, tak působí více „epicky“ či spíše megalomansky. U prvního starter setu to bylo takové vše komornější, tady vás autoři hned šoupnou do dobrodružství které se točí okolo draků. Otázka je tu nasnadě, jak moc je to vhodné pro začínající hráče na první úrovni? Tím nemyslím ze strany obtížnosti, ale určitého přístupu k vývoji charakteru jako takového. Přijde mi celkem zvláštní zasadit postavy na první úrovni do konfliktu mezi bronzovými a chromatickými draky, ale budiž. Pokud s DD začínáte a máte rádi draky, může to být dobrodružství právě pro vás. Pokud se nemůžete rozhodnout, dal bych osobně přednost prvnímu starter setu. Inu, volba je na vás.

This set includes the core rules for playing DnD 5e, an adventure for level 1-3 characters, a set of dice, and pre-generated character sheets.
The rules aren't as comprehensive as the Player's Handbook or the Dungeon Master's Guide, but they contain everything you need to get started.
Extra dice always come in handy.

The adventure isn't as linear as some can be, giving the Dungeon Master room to improvise, yet it still packs everything I expect from a tabletop roleplay experience—exploration, combat, and social interaction with NPCs.
My only minor gripe is the character sheets; I found two typos that newcomers unfamiliar with the rules might miss (for the rogue and wizard).
And one last thing: a Dungeon Master's screen would have been a nice addition, though I understand that would have raised the price...
Overall, definitely a solid product. I give it 4/5.

Set obsahuje základní pravidla pro hraní DnD 5e, Dobrodružství pro postavy na levelu 1-3, sadu kostek a předpřipravené character sheety.
Pravidla samozdřejmě nejsou tak obsáhlá jako v Players handbooku nebo v Dungeon Master Guide, ale pro začátek obsahují všechno co potřebujete.
Kostky navíc se určitě šiknou.

Dobrodružství není úplně lineární jako někdy bývají, a dává dungeon masterovi možnost trochu improvizovat, přesto obsahuje všechno, co si pod pojmem tabletop roleplay představuji - průzkum, boj i sociální interakce s NPCčky.
Za mě asi jediné mínusko jsou character sheety, kde jsem našel dva překlepy, které nováčci neznalí pravidel nemusí objevit (u rogue a wizarda)
A poslední věc, setu by slušel dungeon master´s screen, ale chápu, že by se tím pak zvedla cena...
Celkově určitě dobrý produkt, za mě 4/5

The new (third) core box for Dungeons & Dragons. My feelings are mixed. In many ways, it's worse than the Essentials Kit and the older Starter Set :-/

It includes character creation rules, basic game rules, a pre-made adventure, and a small set of dice.

There aren't many dice; unlike the Essentials Kit, you only get one of each type here. You also won't find any extra accessories.

The adventure is rather weak and its content isn't suitable for first-level characters at all :-/

You're better off buying the Essentials Kit.

Nová (třetí) základní krabice pro Dungeons and Dragons. Mé pocity jsou rozporuplné. V mnohém je horší než Essentials Kit a také jako starší Starter Set :-/

Obsahuje pravidla pro tvorbu postav, základní pravidla hry, připravené dobrodružství a malou sadu kostek.

Kostek je málo, na rozdíl od Essentials Kit-u zde najdeme pouze jeden kus od každého druhu. Také zde nenajdeme žádné doplňky navíc.

Dobrodružství je spíš slabší a svou náplní se ani trochu nehodí pro postavy na první úrovni :-/

Lepší bude koupit si Essentials Kit.

Dungeons & Dragons: Dragons of Stormwreck Isle is a great starting point for D&D. The images are a bit misleading, as the characters featured are from the original Dungeons & Dragons cartoon. Delivery was fast and hassle-free.

Dungeons and Dragons Stornwreck Isle je dobrý štart pre dnd. Obrázky trochu zavádzajú, pretože postavy v nich sú z originálnej detskej show Dungeons and Dragons. Dodanie bolo rýchle a bez problémov.
