I've had the D&D Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden boosters since Christmas. This is another series of miniatures for the adventure of the same name, set in a polar environment. Due to the size of some figures, the boxes are larger than previous series, matching the size of the Tyranny of Dragons boosters. I consider the translucent bases on the large figures a practical improvement. The creators likely didn't intend them for snow-covered maps, but rather to make it easier to see the terrain type the figures are standing on; this is supported by the fact that these bases appeared in the previous Mythic Odysseys of Theros series. I find it a very practical upgrade.

Rime of the Frostmaiden is the first in the Icons of the Realms line to feature a god (goddess) miniature—the evil lesser goddess Auril, associated with the polar environment, in three different forms. Among the ones I bought, I managed to find the most valuable one for both gameplay and collecting, which is featured as the main illustration on all booster packs. It's The Cold Crone, a medium figure of a white horned ungulate with an owl's head in a silvery cloak (see photo). Another very valuable rare figure is the Huge undead skeletal ice giant with an axe, which you can see in the photo right behind the Crone. I really appreciate its artistic design; it's a truly great, properly grinning skeleton. To the left of it in the photo is a sitting owlbear, which looks absolutely adorable (and I'm not the only one who thinks so, as I've noticed online). Unfortunately, it was detached from its base—one joint was unglued and the other snapped in half—but I think it will be easy to fix with glue. To the right of the Crone is a giant Yeti, much larger than the one from Monster Menagerie 1. To the left of the giant in the back are other huge figures, a 'killer whale' and a very nice mammoth, both beautifully detailed. Equally impressive are the figures standing in front of them: a Goliath with a shield and spear, and an Orog orc ranger with an axe (which looks significantly better than the one from the same subrace in Tyranny of Dragons). There were several animals among the figures: mountain goats, an arctic fox, a wolf (not as detailed as the one from Monster Menagerie 1), and a deer. The large white Crag cat isn't an animal, but a monstrosity (just like the yeti).
In front of them stand two nomads wearing animal skulls as masks and a trio of Duergar dark dwarves. There's a warrior woman (a male warrior hasn't been released in the Icons line yet), a spellcaster, and Xardorok Sunblight (another rare figure). Further to the right are two kobolds (one of which is a vampire spawn) and a goblin; even further right is a gnome ceremorph (another bizarre addition). In the front right is a Night Hag with a staff and a (polar) werebear Goliath. Like the other figures, they are all quite beautifully crafted. ...

I was really curious about the figures in this series, and I was mostly very pleased with what I found in the boosters.
Overall, this series surprised me with a higher number of valuable figures; perhaps only Rage of Demons is comparable in this regard.

Boostry D&D Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden Booster mám již od Vánoc. Jedná se o další sérii s figurkami ke stejnojmennému publikovanému dobrodružství, jež se odehrává v polárním prostředí. Krabičky jsou vzhledem k velikosti některých figurek větší než u předešlých sérií, jsou velké stejně jako boostry Tyranny of Dragons. Za praktické vylepšení považuji, že velké figurky mají průsvitné podstavce. Cílem tvůrců nebylo zřejmě jejich přizpůsobení pro podložku se sněhovým povrchem, ale patrně usnadnění kontroly druhu terénu, na němž se dotyčné figurky při hře nacházejí; o tom svědčí skutečnost, že takovéto podstavce byly již v předešlé sérii Mythic Odysseys of Theros; považuji to za praktické vylepšení.

V Rime of the Frostmaiden byla poprvé v rámci celé řady Icons of the Realms nabídnuta figurka boha (bohyně), a to zlé nižší bohyně Auril spjaté s polárním prostředím ve třech různých podobách. Mně se mezi těmi zakoupenými podařilo najít tu herně i sběratelsky nejcennější jež je zobrazena na obalu všech boostrech jako hlavní ilustrace. Jedná se o The Cold Crone, což je medium figurka bělostného rohatého kopytnatce s hlavou sovy ve stříbřitém plášti (viz foto). Další velmi cennou rare figurkou je nemrtvý kostlivý ledový gigant velikosti Huge se sekyrou, jenž se nachází na fotce hned za Crone. U něj oceňuji jeho umělecké ztvárnění, je to opravdu moc pěkný, správně rozšklebený kostroun. Nalevo od něj je na fotce sedící sněžný sovomedvěd, co do vzhledu vyhlížející vyloženě roztomile (v tomto názoru nejsem osamocený, jak jsem zaznamenal na internetu). Bohužel byl utržený od podstavce, jeden ze spojů byl odlepený a druhý ulomený v půlce, Myslím, že to půjde dost dobře opravit lepidlem. Napravo od Crony se nachází obří Yeti, o hodně větší než Yeti z Monster Menagerie 1. Nalevo od giganta vzadu jsou další huge figurky, „vražedná velryba“ a moc pěkný mamut, obojí krásně propracované. Stejně ocenit lze i před nimi stojící figurky goliatha se štítem a kopím a Orog orca rangera se sekyrou (který vypadá o poznání lépe než příslušník stejné subrasy z Tyranny of Dragons). Mezi figurkami bylo vícero zvířat, horské kozy, polární liška, vlk (ne tak propracovaný jako z Monster Menagerie 1) a jelen; velká bílá kočkovitá Crag cat není zvíře, ale monstrózita (stejně jako yeti).
Před nimi stojí dva nomádi se zvířecími lebkami jako maskami a trojice temných trpaslíků, Durgearů. Je to válečnice (válečník bohužel dosud nebyl v rámci řady Icons uveden), příslušník kouzelnického povolání a Xardorok Sunblight (což je další co do četnosti rare figurka). Dále napravo se nacházejí dva koboldi (z toho jeden coby vampire spawn) a goblin, ještě více napravo je gnome ceremorph (další bizarnost). Vpravo předu je s holí Night Hag a (lední) medvědodlak Goliat, stejně jako ostatní figurky jsou poměrně hezky umělecky ztvárnění. ...

Na figurky této řady jsem byl dost zvědavý, a to co jsme v boostrech našel mě většinou docela dost potěšilo.
Celkově mě tato série překvapila vyšším počtem cenných figurek, ,srovnatelná snad byla v tomto ohledu jen Rage of Demons

I didn't even wait for Christmas to start unboxing. I was looking forward to this series like a kid waiting for a new sled. As soon as the boosters finally arrived here in "Eastern" Europe, as everyone still calls us, I had to open them immediately. In total, I found only 2 rare figures in six boosters, but they were truly worth it. One of them was the Young Adult White Dragon, which dwarfs all the dragons from older editions I own. The second rare miniature that popped out was the central character of the entire series, the Cold Crone, featured on the booster packaging and the adventure itself. Out of 24 figures total, I found 3 duplicates. The Abominable Yeti was slightly scuffed due to coming loose in the box, but a bit of paint will easily fix that. Otherwise, the figures were undamaged. One booster was an absolute disaster—Reindeer, Human Hunter + Trapper, and Orog Ranger. I couldn't have imagined worse trash. Among the other figures I found, the Frost Salamander (a giant blue lizard), the Killer Whale (though I doubt I'll use it in most adventures, it makes a decent paperweight :)), the Gnome Squidling, and the Ceremorph caught my eye. The latter look like Mind Flayer mutations performed on poor gnomes. Another surprise was that I avoided any form of wolf, but I found two tiny arctic foxes. Of the miniatures I really wanted, only the Woolly Mammoth and the Tomb Tapper are missing. With a bit of luck, the larger figures will make up for the higher price of the boosters. May you avoid the reindeer and unwanted miniatures—good luck!

S rozbalováním jsem ani nečekal na Vánoce. Na tuhle sérii jsem se těšil jak dítě na nové sáně. Když konečně dorazily boostery i k nám do "východní" Evropy, za kterou nás stejně všichni považují, okamžitě jsem je musel otevřít. Celkově jsem v šesti boosterech našel pouze 2 "rare" figury, ale opravdu stály za to. Jednou z nich byl Young Adult White Dragon, který svou velikostí mnohonásobně převyšuje všechny draky ze starších edicí, které vlastním. Jako druhá vzácná miniatura na mě vykoukla ústřední postava celé série Cold Crone, zobrazená na přebalu boosterů i celého dobrodružství. Z celkových 24 figur jsem nalezl 3 duplikáty. Abominable Yetti byl kvůli uvolnění v krabičce lehce ošoupaný. Trocha barvy vše ale snadno napraví. Jinak byly figury bez jakéhokoliv poškození. Jeden booster byl vyloženě tragický - Reindeer, Human Hunter + Trapper a Orog Ranger. Horší odpad jsem si ani představit neuměl. Z dalších nalezených figur mě zaujal Frost Salamander (obří modrý ještěr), Killer Whale (o jejímž využití ve většině dobrodružství pochybuji, ale jako těžítko, proč ne :)), Gnome Squidling a Ceremorph. Poslední zmiňovaní vypadají jako mutace Mind Flayerů prováděné na nebohých gnómech. Dalším překvapením bylo, že se mi vyhnula jakákoliv forma vlka, zato naprosto titěrné polární lišky jsem našel hned dvě. Z miniatury, které jsem si vyloženě přál mi tak chybí pouze Wooly Mammoth a Tomb Tapper. Vyšší cenu za boostery vám pak při troše štěstí vynahradí větší figury. Nechť se vám sobi a nechtěné miniatury vyhýbají a hodně štěstí.

I was a bit worried about what figures I'd find in this random set at first, but as soon as I started unboxing, my concerns vanished. Beautifully painted figures on bases from this frozen wasteland.

Plus, the selection I got is super versatile. A big cat, a wolf, and a kobold fit into almost any campaign, and the big fish? That'll definitely come in handy once you're out on the water ;)

It's all down to luck, but considering the price, quantity, and quality of the figures, I can only recommend it if you're looking for a fun, random surprise.

Prvně jsem měl trošku obavy, co za figurky v tomto náhodném setu bude, ale jakmile se dostalo na rozbalování obavy se rozptýlily. Krásné nabarvené figurky na podstavcích z této zamrzlé pustiny.

Navíc i výběr, který padl je široce využitelný. Velká kočkovitá šelma, vlk a kobolt se dají využít skoro v každém brůžu a velká ryba? Určitě se někdy bude hodit, až budete na vodě ;)

Je to sice čistě o náhodě, ale v poměru ceny, množství a zpracování figurek lze pouze doporučit, pokud chcete trošku náhodné překvapení.
