I have a huge soft spot for the DC superhero universe, and a board game featuring the bleak human story of Watchmen has been sorely missing.
This expansion for the DC Deck-Building Game was an absolute must-have for my wife and me, and we're really glad we picked it up.
Compared to the base deck-building game, this expansion brings more tension, a narrative atmosphere (instead of just a random game of 'who has the bigger number'), and an overall more interesting experience. Even my otherwise quite demanding wife praised the expansion and prefers playing it over the original game.
The only missed opportunity is the minimal number of specific Watchmen cards; aside from the heroes, barely two dozen are added to the game. They get quite diluted among the more than one hundred cards in the base game, so the Watchmen atmosphere is maintained only by the main character cards and the 'Fratricide' conspiracy, which is added here as a new scenario.
The production quality is traditionally high; while Cryptozoic isn't exactly a top-tier company when it comes to game design, the quality of the game components is reliable.

Pro superhrdinské universum DC mám velkou slabost a desková hra s motivem skličujícího lidského příběhu Watchmenů zatím vůbec chybí.
Tato expanze ke karetní 'balíčkovací' hře DC universa byla tedy pro nás se ženou naprostou povinností a nakonec jsme moc rádi, že jsme si ji pořídili.
Oproti původní balíčkovací variantě hra přináší větší napětí, výpravnou atmosféru (namísto prosté náhodné přebíjené) a vůbec zajímavý zážitek. Dokonce i moje jinak celkem náročná žena si expanzi pochvalovala a hraje ji raději než původní hru.
Jedinou promarněnou příležitostí je jen minimální množství specifických Watchmen karet, vyjma hrdinů jsou jich do hry přidány stěží dvě desítky, které se mezi více jak stovkou karet základní hry příliš rozředí a atmosféra Watchmenů je zachována pouze kartami hlavních postav a bratrovražedným spiknutím, které je tu přidáno jako nový scénář.
Provední je tradičně kvalitní, Cryptozoic sice není nijak špičkovou firmou co se herního designu týče, ale kvalita herních komponentů je spolehlivá.

I was really looking forward to this expansion. It includes new heroes and additional cards you can add to the base DC DBG game. The design and card material are also great. This expansion also adds new game modes that you need to study in detail beforehand.

Na toto rozsirenie som velmi tesil. Sucastou su novy hrdinovia, dalsie karty, ktore sa daju pridat ku zakladnej hre DC DBG. Dizajn aj material kariet je tiez pekny. Taktiez dane rozsirenie pridava nove mody hrania, ktore je nutne si podrobnejsie vopred nastudovat.
